There is an explanation video that talks about all the hidden meaning in this video, but a lot of fans will tell you not to watch it because it contains spoilers for the BU, or the Bangtan Universe, which is a fictional storyline that runs through a lot of BTS videos. However, I feel like if you’re not up for watching ALL of the BU videos in order (or reading the online graphic novel or Manwah) then the Fake Love explanation video is kind of like Cliff’s notes or the readers digest version of the BU, in a small palatable dosage.

Hahaha!!! I remember Beatlemania... (yeah, I'm really old...) it didn't come close to what's going on with these guys. Not only is Social media a big part of today's music scene but in addition to the amazing music and performances, BTS does social media better than anyone I've ever seen. And yes there is a feature called the 'Bangtan Universe' that runs through their music videos. Yes, many MVs link together, reference each other. Songs often relate to the album titles, too: in this case, Fake Love as part of the Love Yourself album trilogy. If you're not using the subtitles, you should. Knowing the lyrics of a specific song also helps explain. They are definitely storytellers.

Hey NJ. So fun watching you react. I'm 57 and never expected to get sucked all in. So yeah, there is a fictional storyline, the BU (Bangtan Universe) going on for years encompassing music videos, trailers, short films, album notes and mini books, posters, a webtoon, books, Jesus, a few more. All the imagery and elements shown in this video tie in as well as the Japanese versions of BU related MVs. Big Hit has done the same with some of their other artists, too.

Little to no CGI, the lyrics are killer, the hooded figure representing The Shadow of our persona makes appearances in other MVS as do the clothes poles, the flower and others. There is no greater iconic image of Fake Love than the Snickers bar. Feeling down, no energy, hungry but u don't know for what, no lover but want to feel loved, Snickers is the answer if you want a short fix of fake love. Just a side note - no CGI used in this - the floor that fell away actually fell away - JK was attached to a harness. The water around Jimin was real and was the fire around SUGA. Yes this forms part of what we call the Bangtan Universe which has been connecting not only through MVs but a webtoon, books and even an online game. It is a WHOLE other road to travel down. FAKE LOVE 🖤 - This song could initially be perceived as a break-up song but it is much more than that..... In an interview, RM (leader) said that this song was mainly about the dark side of love and how sometimes when you love someone you want to change who you are to fit that person's expectations.
