Any issues with the motor vertical shaft rotating as its only held in place with those rubber cutouts relying on interference/tension to hold the motor?

No. When it is sufficiently tightened, it holds great. It has four contacts points on the shaft and that provides enough tension to hold.

Will the quick disconnect system also work for the nk180?

Once installed can it still "kick up" if it hit a rock or log? Thanks!

Yes, it has a kickup release so will pop up it it hits something.
