Nkana for life. The year was 1988 I was in 3rd year Geography major. There was a lab in G922-Advanced Climatology that Tuesday. I dodged. Nkana had just landed in the country from a CAF Champions league in Cameroun where they won 1-0 scoreline. The goal scorer was Dominic Sikazwe! They beat Tonnerre FC! They had a backlog of games to clear. By then high flying Nkwazi then was topping the league and number 10 my former classmate at Mumuni Primary-late Lawrence Monde MHSRIEP was in top form!! My friends and I trekked to Imboela stadium in Sikanze camp. Within a short time Patrick Sekuru Chishimba scored a header! It was 1-0 Nkwazi at half time. Second half, Beston Chambeshi was fouled in the box. Penalty!! Gentile Animal Kapambwe scored a beauty of a penalty I will never forget. Left footed but scored with a right!!! 1-1! Golden Kazika 2-1. John tolo Mofya header 3-1! End of story! Following day it was Red Arrows at Nkholoma stadium Nkana 3-0. Friday same week it was at Railways Ground- Kabwe Warriors. Another 3-0 Nkana!! Finally Ndola vs Vitafoam United. 3-0 Nkana and they were now league leaders! What a great team!!! I liked Isaac Koda Phiri. He had a lethal left. He could score from the center line!!! Memories are for those who make them. Let us enjoy this song...
