The administration of Nkoma Senior Secondary School has refuted allegations that it banned the Scripture Union or issued warnings to non-Muslim students to embrace Islam. "It's not true; we didn't ban them but only regulated the prayers during school days," Christians teachers stated.
A team of Christian teachers at the school, interviewed by Bugisu Intellectual Reporter, noted that the allegations were intended to tarnish the institution's name.
During lunchtime, students are allowed to pray individually but not in a congregation as it used to be, in order to control indiscipline among some students. Even in the mosque, students would go and hide there without praying, so we stopped this practice altogether.
The new regulations apply to all students, including the Muslim community, with designated prayer times for everyone.
