That ref lore makes me wonder if any fed has ever done a comedy match where the ref gets taken out and multiple people come out to replace them but end up getting knocked out in increasingly wacky ways (one takes a crazy bump, another hurts their hand while counting a pin and is out, a third trips immediately after putting the shirt on and is out, etc).
