Will this work if i want to scan my WiFi router which my laptop is connected to via a LAN cable ? WiFi in my Laptop is disabled (turned off) but i want to see what my router is doing ? tks

NMap would probably give you a better idea of what's going on, but it could help give some insight.

Kali linux appears to use the apt packages, so you should be able to download the linux ubuntu / debian version and install it with dpkg or apt.
