Here’s the translation. Just to give some context, Lagos is a big developed city and Warri is mostly a suburb. The song talks about how Lagos folks underrated her because of where she’s from and how she now graces billboards in Lagos. Enjoy! I’m a half-caste, right? Because I have a coloured skin (show-off with a borrowed colour) I’m a villager, right? Because I have the swag a Lagos woman doesn’t have You say I’m an illiterate, because I act like I’m from Warri I won’t lie, I tried to adjust to your Lagos foreign lifestyle But I failed I am Nigerian reggae I am Warri reggae I was born near Okporikoko village I am Warri reggae They say I’m a Warri idiot But everybody sees me on your Lagos city billboards Let’s not lie, it was you who said I couldn’t cook But you must confess, it’s my unpolished/local lifestyle you like best Now you miss me, right? Because I didn’t wear dresses, heels and wigs/weave-ons Because I didn’t like your flashy lifestyle, you dumped originality (you dumped me)

Thank you a lot! I tried to find lyrics, and also tried to write it down, listening song over and over again just to admit that I cannot understand Nigerian-English. Nneka has a great lifestory, she traveled to Germany, she was cleaning toilets just to survive, and then all those discrimination in her own country for being mixed blood...
Local Champion = Nneka Verse 1] Shebi I be half caste, because I carry colour follow body, borrow pose Shebi I be villager, because I get swag wey lagos woman no get You talk sey I be illiterate because I get waffi attitude for inside my blood I no go lie, I tried to adjust to your oyibo Lagos style, but I failed [Chorus] I be Naija reggae, I be warri reggae Dem born me near Okporikoko village I be warri reggae, dem say I be waffi mugu But dem see me for your Lagos city poster Waffi reggae, I be Naija reggae Dem born me near Okporikoko village I be warri reggae, dem say I be waffi mugu But dem see me for your Lagos city poster [Verse 2] Make we no lie, na you talk sey my food resemble mama put own But you must confess, na my local way dey sweet you pass Shebi you dey miss me now, coz I no wear skirt, koi koi shoe and weave-on Because I no like your flashy way, you dump originality, dump, dump me [Chorus] I be Naija reggae, I be warri reggae Dem born me near Okporikoko village I be warri reggae, dem say I be waffi mugu But dem see me for your Lagos city poster Waffi reggae, I be Naija reggae Dem born me near Okporikoko village I be warri reggae, dem say I be waffi mugu But dem see me for your Lagos city poster
