I commend the Nnewi people for their individual and collective efforts to develop their community more than any other place in Nigeria mainly without government assistance. However what I see is a lack of local town planning by the local authority hence too much unregulated business activities and commercial activities are all over the place. The same activities can be better planned away from residential areas, more leisure areas are also important for our mental health with more greenery for relaxing after hustle. Business/ industrial parks should be incorporated in our cities. My criticism is the lack of support from FG or state government to invest in areas of industrial excellence like Nnewi. I commend the igbos for building cities on the back of their own hard work without any government assistance. Eboh Gee thanks for sharing.

Are they not responsible for developing local government areas? etc They do this partly from tax revenue. I feel its just a story that allows Governors and state actors to loot as much as possible

I think one of the ways to improve the look is to plant more trees...close gutters and mark the roads Look at Calaba, Uyo and the likes thats what they should aspire to.

Just put Nnewi, let people be the judge whether it is the richest or not. You could see here that there is a strong need for government presence and regulations.. The city and indigenes are doing great but we still need a lot of work in planning, tree planting and basic town planning regulations.

Please, towns around Nnewi should embark on urban planning. This is because Nnewi development will expand to neighboring towns around them. Therefore, it is an opportunity to have that vision of a new far better organized towns with well planned interconnected road 🛣️ Networks with walkways, standard drainage system, lawns and boulevards 🎄 🌴 🎄 🌴 🎄 🌴 🎄 🌴 map out a new town, task which is solely the duty and responsibility of an active State government. Blame it on the bush myopic men who govern Anambra State. Is it not the duty of the government to effect a standard urban plan where you have a completely squared interconnected road Networks with walkways lawns, and boulevards 🎄🌴🎄🌴🎄🌴. These yeye governors refuse to maximize the potentials of the great Igbo Developers. The should open new towns/ cities now. We still have open lands where they can go and set up and effect a standard modern advanced spaceous estate-like plan for new town, I mean a virgin city development from the scrash.

All those big names i have been hearing about Nnewi being richest, industrialised and bigger economy in Africa are all noisy hype. Look at how dirty, uncivilized, poor Gov infrastructure and poor the village is. No road and few one's very tiny and untared. Nnewi people are greedy that they can build big house's but cannot at list pave or interlock their road to enter the house or street. Self centred and waiting for obiano at Awka to fix it. Everything is not about buying and selling, the Ambiante of your environments should be taken serious in other sustain a healthy progressive society. I can't reside in Onitsha, Okpoko, Nnwei or Awada. Anambra is very dirty as whole and needs a total overhauling.
@iamscottish58263 жыл бұрын
People from Nnewi won't dualize the roads. The government have to do that. Nigerian system system of governance is ineffective. A governor sitting in the capital of state can't do everything, every important city deserve a mayor of some kind. The government in Nigeria have tried for the citizens and the citizens are doing the best they can to survive. You won't expect people from Nnewi to all gather and transform their hometown all by themselves. Where has it been done? They can only contribute their own quota. If them they even contribute themselves, it won't be enough. There is a lot of siphoning of fund by elected officials in Nigeria. A lot of thing ought to been but they haven't been done because nobody cares.

This is a village just like your village but the difference is that been the typical Igbo people that they are; Nnewi indigenes, village men and women, like so many indigenously developed Igbo towns and villages, single handedly turned their bush to an active and prosperous busy business town which can challenge any city as regards economic activities unlike your village which is characterized as we speak by the noises of birds and of wild bush animals with frustrated men and women roaming about hopelessly in sleeping bush of a ghost village. I'm not surprised to see that you are so unhappy with the exploits of a zone and a people who were once rendered hopeless as a result of a gang up civil war, a state sponsored terrorism of the Nigeria's government against the BLESSED Igbo Divine.
