Great video always looking to learn something new. I hope you don’t mind that I share a video to a few on how to make a mat less sticky. I have been using a Cricut, brother scan n cut and a silhouette so I am very much aware of using card stock on them and to make them less sticky is to use and old towel, or old tee shirt on them. them. Some tip I would like to pass along is the best pencil eraser to use is the white polymer eraser as it will not leave marks. Should not use the eraser on the end of a pencil. just realizes you mentioned the white eraser 👍🏼

Hi @sirrahinnct471 thank you for your comment, I agree every day is a school day 😁 Sorry but I don't allow links in the comments on my channel. I have never had a Scan N Cut mat so sticky that I have had to do that but you have kindly explained what can be done and I'll mention in a future tutorial. Sounds just like trying to get the stick off washi tape when using it to hold dies in place, sticking to your trousers or jumper helps. Glad you enjoyed my video, happy crafting 🥰 x

Hi, can I suggest when you have done your first cut and removed the toppers you have made, then scan in your waste and save it in the machine. You are then able to put your coloured card on to the mat bring up the scanned image and move the images onto the colour you want to cut it out, hope this makes sense.
@suzichoclatcrafts Жыл бұрын
Hi Elizabeth, thank you for your suggestion, love working things through with others 😍 Just trying to think this through 😊 would you still be able to put the extra 0.04 or 0.08 outline distance on the scanned image to make it bigger than the first cut to create the shadow layer? Will have to have a look and try it, as you may have heard me say I’m re-familiarising myself with the SnC after being without one for 2.5 years and can’t remember if that is possible. I was hoping to have another in this series out just after Christmas but we have two very poorly dogs in the vets on drips so my concentration is elsewhere at the moment. Hoping they will turn the corner and be home soon, then I can get back on track ❤️ thank you again xx

@@suzichoclatcrafts Hi, I did see this idea not long after the machine was launched, the first step of cutting out the image was completed then the border was enlarged to your choice, it was this that was saved to the machine so you always had as I call it “a back plate” next time you need one for the image. I suppose if you don’t weld it you would be able to enlarge it, never tried it but worth a go. I only use my scan n cut for the writing ability to personalise cards, my card making is on a small scale for family and friends, I still have the original cm 650.

@@elizabethturnbull1537 arh now that makes more sense and I do believe I did scan and save that ‘second cut’ to my machine after I had published the tutorial now you have mentioned it 😂 I will mention this in my next one and let everyone else know as it’s a helpful thing to know if you use a certain stamp a lot. The things that is not helpful is that as far as I know you still cannot rename the files you save in the machine. I keep a little note book with the machine file numbers and their brief description. I have noticed that you can now undo a weld in Canvas Workspace which was never possible a couple years ago, once you had welded you had welded, never to be changed lol…Nice to hear you are still using you SnC albeit for limited things. It’s such a clever machine and does make cards look professional with the writing ability, do you use metallic pens or glue pen and foil? xxx

@@elizabethturnbull1537 thank you so much, your thoughts are appreciated. One seems to have turned a corner and has stopped excreting stuff at both ends and also eaten a little food. The other, who is 20 hours behind, still is very poorly and made no improvement but he has only been on IV fluids since yesterday afternoon whereas the other has had almost 36 hours. Fingers crossed for them both, they are our 4 legged kiddos (we don’t have the 2 legged kind) ❤️ xx

This is a fantastic tutorial. I just got a Scan N Cut. My first two tries on it, the mat was so sticky I had trouble removing my projects in one piece. I'm assuming it gets easier after more uses? Thank you so much for sharing.

Hi Suzanne, welcome to the world of Scan N Cut 😍 Thank you so very much for watching and commenting. The mats do lose their stickiness once you have used and cut some things. Most people moan that they dont stay sticky long enough but it is very easy to restick them. I am in the process of dong a quick tutorial on it. You may want to have a look on my channel for Part 1 of this series, it’s about fussy cutting digital images, either ones you have downloaded and printed yourself or bought. So glad that you found the tutorial helpful, maybe subscribe and then you won’t miss Part 3 when it comes out x

I got one for Christmas and I had the same exact problem. Everything was so stuck to the mat that I had to wash it. I'm looking forward to the stickiness going away a bit. Thanks for a great tutorial. I have a lot to learn so I'll be popping in regularly.
@suzichoclatcrafts Жыл бұрын
Hey Velvet, lucky you getting a Scan N Cut for Christmas 😃 What model is it? Think Brother must be making the mats more sticky because so many people are moaning about them not staying sticky long enough. Normally giving the mat a wash or wiping it over with a non alcoholic baby wipe will remove the paper fibres and make it more sticky. The last mat I bought was during last summer, I found it was great to start with but have already had to restick it a couple times, which isn’t a problem as it’s so quick to do. So pleased you enjoyed my tutorial, hope you get your stamps out and have a go. My Mum always used to say practice makes perfect 😉 xx

Would it have been possible to delete the double cut image in the 2nd half of the video, and then duplicate one of the good images with the 0.16 outline since you were only going to be cutting the colored background cardstock?
@suzichoclatcrafts Жыл бұрын
Hi Cherry, thanks for watching my tutorial. Yes you could highlight the double cut image and send it to the bin and then cut the remaining layers as many times as you wish, putting different coloured card stock on the mat to cut. I just left it as it was so everyone could see how it cut, I used it to make a topper and nobody would ever have known 😉 x
