thank you so much for 50k subs!
before I say anything else i wanna make sure i say that i wanna focus more on making videos from now on, and try to post more often. get out that #omori content LMAO. i am usually working on so many diff things at once videos get put on the back burner. i don't like how empty my channel besides my community tab is. i have lots of videos ideas (some more ambitious than others) that i really wanna get to.
for now though, about the actual video, i know its a lot LMAO. especially the animation at some parts and editing. the amount of details and little secrets ive packed and layered in is insane to the point i want to make a breakdown video of everything i did. unless someone else does it for me (negative chance LMAO). the video follows a specific timeline that I think it pretty noticable. and theres a lot of original dialogue/writing in this that actually stems from Endless Dreaming (my own fic. im allowed to talk about it ok!!!!!!! LMAO) but it all builds on base omori lore. there's also actual basil dialogue of course. i just go crazy with it. basil and stranger in endless are very interesting in unique, and i take a lot of liberties and development that i personally enjoy and wanted to make a video about.
again tho, heres the link to the fic. you don't have to read it, just enjoy the video and anymore i make for my fic hehe (it is a continuation of the good ending while exploring headspace lore-everyone already makes videos on base omori, so i thought it'd be more interesting to have my own narratives in the videos. something something...its just what i feel like doing...)

Ok I apologize that a good chunk of this is gonna be praising the song too because this the first time I've heard of it, but honestly I think this was the best way for me to first experience. Even though there were some obvious edits with sound effects and stuff that you made, they're hard to discern from the original without hearing it first, and at the same time the story the animation gives flows so well that you can't even tell that No.2 wasn't made for this animation. What I mean to say is, everything fits _perfectly._ The different styles of animation and edits gives this chaotic nature to the visuals that perfectly follows the dramatic chaos of No.2. And then of course, how perfectly it follows the story of Basil. Like seriously, from what I can tell in the lyrics they almost exactly follow the story of a guy pushed to the side forced to keep a terrible secret, only keeping it because he's made to feel like he doesn't deserve to tell the truth. Like seriously the "tape that mouth shut" line paired with the metaphorical depiction of Basil's mouth being taped shut is awesome. If I could give one criticism to this animation, it would be that there's too many words on screen, and they tend to be distracting from the animation. But then again, pretty much _everything_ is distracting, especially when you're reading the translated lyrics for the first time too, that's kind of the point. It's like your experiencing the shattered guilt of Basil's failing grip on reality and I _love_ this for that. So much of the animation contributes to that, with the memories in front of Basil, only interrupted by the occasional flashes of staring face to face with him, being left stunned as he recites his anguish to the camera with a perfect poker face. And then goddamn the way you being to incorporate the Headspace hallucinations in the second part, going from Basil sitting in front of his room door in a whitespace style, to now it being shaded purple for Headspace, and all the objects around him being their in-game sprites to show that disconnect from reality. And don't even get me started on that awesomely fluid cutout-style animation you use around the bridge, and the way it suddenly throw in his depiction as Stranger, further wrenching apart his view of what's real and what isn't. But you wanna know the scariest part? The chorus. The first build up to it I was amazed at how it went from that reserved rapping until, the singer began adding more and more emotion until suddenly with the "INFERIORITY" he cries the basis of his lament with a full chorus of voices screaming at you. That's what made me realize this song is something special, but also made me go pale as I began to realize what was going on. The chorus isn't so terrifying because of what it shows, but because of what you were blinded to. The simple fact that the camera holds there for so long on Basil's side profile, staring listlessly off while the red hands grab at him. It's not until the second chorus with Sunny terrified as he faces down Basil that you realize what that chorus meant: The fundamental being of Basil's depression. How little he sees himself, and how despite wanting Sunny to not leave so much, he doesn't think he's worth holding him back, nor holding this secret. He's staring off, considering suicide. And then everything in the chaos of before lines up. It's obviously Basil's deteriorating mental state, but it's not just blind insanity and dissociation, it's all signs. The creepy half smiling Basil does during the rapping sections is him accepting he's worthless, the flower dropping out of his hair, the visuals of the noose paired with the white egret orchid, the visuals of Headspace and Stranger leading into those paranoid thoughts and the guilt eating away at him as he loses everything, the third version of him sitting in front of his door likely being based on how you can see him slumped if you don't save Basil, and of the course the visual of him holding the shears in front of him. Hell, you can even see him starting to dissociate all the way from the first scene in the funeral, with Basil's mouth duct taped. Behind him and Sunny are Aubrey, Kel and Hero, their faces blacked or even scribbled out as they grieve Mari, but they suddenly glitch and turn into full silhouettes, I believe of their Headspace sprites. I swear even if I had known nothing about Omori before watching this video I would've had the same realization: I was blind to the signs of Basil's fall. Even from his point of view, _especially_ from his point of view, I couldn't understood how close he was to ending it all and how steady on that path he was traveling. It was only during those moments of unadulterated anguish where the problem is screamed out during the chorus that you finally realize what's about to happen. Masterful work.

I think I spent a solid 30 minutes on it and didn't even realize until I had finished typing- --tho of course animating this took way longer than just half an hour lmao.-- There's so much still that I could type, like how the red hands circling around Sunny at the end show a connection in reflecting Basil's guilt and anguish back onto him and just generally how even the unadulterated anguish of Basil screaming feels like it's becoming too much as the music reaches a climactic breaking point, or Stranger in front of the door showing a descent in Basil's own Blackspace, or how you timed the sound of the shattering of pottery with Basil stabbing Sunny's eye. There's just too much to talk about!! Once again thank you so much for making this, I love picking up the breadcrumbs artists leave in their work and I really loved how much care you put in this!!

This is so amazing oto! I think it really reflects on Basil's mental state and how he somehow loses his mind in hysteria during those four years alone. He becomes increasingly more unstable until he reaches his breaking point the last night before Sunny moved. Basil has been through so much but I still wish he didn't stab Sunny's eye out, but he may have been suffering from a psychotic break. With the video's crazy colors, its hard to see what's going on like you can't think straight. The words and texts are what runs through his mind everyday. And I noticed how Basil's flower falls off one time during the video, indicating that his former "happy self" was shattered as well as his sense of self when Sunny abandoned him. He only knows that happy persona of him when Mari was alive, and before anything ever happened. He finally broke. (Also I didn't know Basil spoke Japanese lol)

This animatic perfectly captures Basil’s slow and painful descent over the course of the four years he was alone, and how he has suffered. I’ve seen people misunderstand his final fight as him hating Sunny and trying to kill him, but this paints the picture from Basil’s perspective really well. He had some anger towards Sunny, but he was also at his lowest point considering if you don’t go into his room that night, he kills himself. His mind wasn’t working right and he started to hallucinate “something behind” Sunny. All this time he’s waited for his best friend, the one he was willing to do the unthinkable to protect, and when he finally comes back for Basil he’s leaving in a few days. The psychological pressure compounded and broke Basil thoroughly, and this is just a perfect visual representation of it. Really good animation

god, this is the sickest mv I’ve ever seen. seriously this is amazing!! great work!!!!!!!!! Number Two has been a favorite song of mine for years so when I saw you posting the WIPs of this project I got really exited aha; and it turned out so well!! god damn!!!!!!!! there’s way too many things that could be pointed out but I specifically like the bit towards the end where all the hand point at Sunny’s eye. idk why that stood out to me but I really liked how it was edited! (but really the entire mv is amazingly edited; thank you for your hard work)
