This video shows my first and successful attempt at making a manual rod control of a crossover point. The first reference I can find for the basic idea is the mid 1960's. This is the time when I (and a few of you I guess) was a mod on a lambretta 125 and working in Soho and spending my £3.10.00 wages in Carnaby Street.
The board is now on the layout and works perfectly.
If you would like to see future videos of my progress click 'Subscribe' it's free and click the bell symbol by the side. You will now get an email from KZbin telling you when my next video is available to view.
Thanks for looking, if you like, click the thumbs up.
Many thanks
Barry.

Thank you Tim, the best part of the system is pulling the the rod, as I feel like a signalman, in control of directing a train. A physical thing, not electric, not pushing a button. It is a good feeling. I do have some push button point control but get pleasure of my 6 rod controls. Barry.Devon

Hi Barry, thanks for sharing, your engineering skills and patience are beyond mine well done I get the feeling you enjoyed doing it. I've recently started putting up videos so I can sympathize regarding editing etc. Keep up the good work and thanks again for sharing.

Hi Kevin, I am glad you enjoyed the video. I have also done another on point control, Video 30, 3 handdraulic points in 15 minutes. My main reason for doing the hand ones, is after I tried to fit electric point motors under the baseboard and failed in a wild blast of Anglo Saxon. 3 point motors in the bin. Around the same time, I found a pivot system in a very old Peco leaflet and hey presto. The present video I am working on is me constructing a cardboard platform for 4 carriages............Barry............. enjoy the hobby and keep safe

Hi Matthew, it does seem that the basic mechanical systems are endless in their success. It is a very useful little booklet and I can vouch for its success as the two areas I used it in, (either end of the Westhaven station) are still working well, almost 5 years on. Have you tried it yourself? All the best Barry

Hi Dave, so sorry I did not reply to your comment 4 years ago. I must admit that I am very happy that a fellow modeller of your very high standard had watched my attempts to take the click out of those point movements close to the edge of the board. I do have Peko surface ones in the awkward places.............Barry
