You should crosspath the maelstroms, it makes the ability better

top path makes it throw out more sawblades, bottom path makes the ability last longer. in fact, you can get about 80% uptime using a primary mentoring and a 052 maelstom. 100% uptime is possible using primary expertise and an energizer edit: using an alchemist or any kind of attack speed boost also makes the ability SIGNIFICANTLY better

One thing I haven't seen mentioned in the comments is that 1-0-0 and 2-0-0 farm are actually more efficient than base farm, i.e. they take less rounds to pay themselves off. Especially with 1-0-0 being a relatively cheap upgrade, that would be a handy trick in this challenge to save on some extra dollars.

it's cause he said he'd only get crosspaths after he got the ability on the tower, so he couldn't get top or bottom path on the farms untill he got it to a bank 👍

Not allowed to crosspath until I reach 4th tier! That's when I unlock abilities. But yea I was so low on monies I was trying to save up for more abilities isntead of upgrading the ones I already had, then kinda forgot because things got so intense :P

It's questionable whether it would have helped. It effects some abilities, but the problem is that it's expensive and likely wouldn't always be off cooldown when important abilities like the spike storms and phoenixes were active. It works when it's up, but it's very expensive and not always up to begin with.
