I think just using the current ChatGPT itself, one can argue hiring one developer in place of two ... considering productivity gain. That is kind of similar to automation replacing some jobs in manufacturing industry too. End of the day, most companies are about making profits... not humanity and all... Otherwise there would not be as many layoffs this year also.
