The only problem is the consular officer at the embassy can turn your visa application if you can't provide proof of fund. So you can have admission and everything but those guys are ruthless. I witnessed this on the day my B1 visa to the US was rejected. Someone in front had a admission accepted and was granted a scholarship but still the consular rejected him.

Some are automatic while some you need to apply separately, for Graduate assistantships some are automatic such as the ones in the 2nd school spoke of, while some you need a potential supervisor's approval to be considered, All information regarding them is well stated on their webpages.
