He admitted he’s not seen your scans. -WHY was a biopsy done without first reviewing scans (to see if there’s new tumor growth, and where it is - not flying in blind) PLEASE reconsider the trust and adulation you have with this man who is NOT worthy of it. I am so sorry the other surgeon was not able to help. I had a similar situation with a surgeon. The first time I met him, he walked in the door and said “You don’t smell like you have cancer”. I wanted to change surgeons immediately but he was so highly recommended by Doctors I trusted. He too was unable to get to the area (in my lung) to do a biopsy. Long story short, I ended up with pneumonia following his attempt to do a biopsy and the pneumonia caused scar tissue that encapsulated the tumor/mass and ate away at whatever was there. I continued to have scans done and there were no changes in that scarred area. I am several years out from that and in fact am getting some testing again as we didn’t just go along with his “smell”. What a wack-a-doodle! Keep your chin up, you got this! And like you, I do not think being nice to someone is necessary. I always knew a good doctor when he saw the person (not a patient) and did what he would do if I was a family member. At the very least that surgeon should have talked to a family member (someone not coming out of anesthesia) and advised them of what went on with the surgery. Or better yet, gave you a written note or saw you the next day. I am a retired registered nurse so especially when it comes to my health or my loved ones, I do not hesitate to say “If I was your sister, mother etc. what is our next step? I am sure you would want a quick answer if I was your sister/mother etc.)” Prayers are being sent your way! PS I had a friend with an abnormal mammogram and the doctor could not see her for two weeks. She said that was not good enough and went right to his office and told the staff she would keep coming everyday until he could see her. She was seen that day! (and she did not have cancer) So sometimes we cannot or should not play nice! It is our life on the line, so we have every right to demand proper treatment or a plan.

If you are being treated publicly in the public system in the UK you are not able to ‘choose’ your own surgeon. You were luckily allocated a surgeon who works both publicly and privately. You could opt to go privately with him into that system and pay just for him but you would miss out on the rest of the fantastic multi disciplinary cancer treatment team. You are putting all your eggs in the surgeon’s basket when you should be thanking the medical oncologist and radiation oncologist for the good treatment you have received so far. It sounds like the surgeon you like, is nice and says things you want to hear. Your whole Marsden team sounds amazing and believe me, they would all know what’s going on. I can see why some viewers are becoming frustrated when things really are not making sense and they should be. It’s because people do care and want the best for you. It’s your medical oncologist that has the big picture and all the answers not your surgeon. You are a smart, university educated young woman and I hope you are able to properly piece together all the good info people give you and advocate for yourself to the right person. Yes, if you’re not happy with treatment make a complaint but do it from a place of definitive knowledge. There’s no point saying how strong you are if you don’t start learning everything about your illness and understanding exactly what needs to be done. It’s not rocket science, it is actually protocols and treatment guidelines they follow which can be easily found.

You see my husband had cancer and I am a nurse and I know and understand everything you are going through. I pray for you and your family daily. A lot of nurses and doctors take care of cancer patients and sometimes they forget that the patient needs some kind of explanation to what is going on or not going on. The patient always needs to be kept in the loop of what is happening at ALL times! Most Drs., like yours are really good at keeping the patient informed but every once in a while things happen and patients concerns and worries kind of get looked over. It is not on purpose at all, it is usually because the doctor has so much going on or the nurses are over worked. But that is not an excuse and should not happen, but it does. And I am really sorry it happened to you. I think with your doctor being ill recently, things just got off balance and he had to use a different surgeon which makes patients uneasy and makes them have anxiety. Which is the last thing you need to go through. I know when my husband and I were waiting for results of tests we were so anxious and our emotions were all over the place. Just know that your family, friends, and tiffanythinks fans love you and pray for you. If you ever need someone to just listen or chat you can message me anytime. Stand up for yourself and get all of your questions answered and don't worry if it offends anyone... advocate for yourself, first and foremost, because all too often, people fall through the cracks and don't get the answers and/or the treatment they need. And if doctors can't take being offended by a patient who is going through a very stressful time because of something like cancer treatment, then they shouldn't be doctors at all. YOU GOT THIS!!!

Tiffany, I can totally understand your frustration and anger. There seems to be such a problem with communication from your team. Your not understanding the situation with your surgeon from him(!) is a main one. You developed a relationship with him, trust him and then he is at not there when you expect it, and there is no communication as to why that is or what you need to expect in the future. As a retired RN, you deserve to know what the plan is, why the doctor who was to perform the surgery didn’t ( before the surgery), a thorough explanation after as to why it couldn’t be done when it was done before, and what the plan is now. Do NOT be concerned about making another doctor angry or uncomfortable with your frustration and questions. This is YOUR life and as I (& others) have said before you need to stand up for yourself to get the care you deserve as you are your best advocate. There is no benefit to just being nice when it is YOU (& your loved ones) who are living with your situation 24/7! The worse thing to do is NOT do anything , and then find out later if only you had…. Ask to get a clear explanation of what your plan of care is with what is going to happen in the future, who is doing what (doctors) and why things changed! I totally understand all of the stress and emotions tied to having a serious cancer diagnosis. You shouldn’t have to also deal with the confusion and lack of communication from your care team, especially a team that works with cancer patients. They should know better.

I feel your pain hunny. In one of my abdominal/bowel surgeries the surgeon told me the day after that he didn’t remove the organ and scar tissue that has caused me severe pain for years. Let me just answer your question “why am I so sleepy”, the answer is: Huge amout of morfine 🤷♀️ Nobody mentions this here, but If I were you, I would think of this Do you use mofrine on daily basis longterm? Did your doctors tell you about the risk of adiction? And if you are using the morfine on daily long time - why? If there is no cancer - what is hurting? Do you know that drug craving manifests exactly this way? By hurting? I pray for you every day and when I see the lack of information from the doctors I pray you and your family have little more responsibility in a way of getting informed. There are many ways. In the end of your day - your health is only your responsibility. I love you Tiffany and I am sending you all the strenght you need 🙏

Oh my. This is a lot to take in for you and your family. Please don’t ever feel like you’re hurting a Dr’s feelings. This is serious. It could be life or death. YOUR life, not the surgeon’s life. I can promise you that if the tables were turned, or it were their family member that wanted answers, they wouldn’t hesitate to advocate. Also, sweet girl, I can pretty much bet that even though you’re frustrated and mad and upset and all of the appropriate emotions, you didn’t behave inappropriately because you’re just such a nice person. Okay, so, here’s a few things that kind of bug me, not only as a nurse, a cancer patient, and a long time Tiffany Thinks Family member: 1, prior to your first biopsy, your surgeon and oncologist and team were very adamant that no chemo or radiation would shrink the tumor. It was just to hold it at bay and stop it from spreading and that surgery was the only option to save you. BUT, when your surgeon went in, he was tossing around the notion that the tumor wasn’t a tumor anymore, but just mucus and such and that he didn’t see any cancer….that was amazing news, but I’d still be apprehensive because this huge surgeon was so adamant about the course of care. THEN, it bugs me that you’ve had a hard time reaching your surgeon throughout the waiting period, despite him telling you that he’d treat you like his sister. THEN, nobody informed you that HE wasn’t doing this second biopsy, and it kind of sounded like the surgeon in his place wasn’t quite aggressive enough since she was as T able to biopsy the area-and I say area because your surgeon expressed taking multiple biopsies of multiple areas incase he missed anything during your first one, and to further decide if possibly the cancer has shrunk or changed for the better etc. Even with no actual tumor present, biopsies NEED to be taken. As I’m sure you know, cancer cells can be so small and even singular, so it’s possible that something could’ve been missed. I’m in no way trying to scare you. I just want you to feel justified in your feelings-your feelings are very valid. Even with nothing showing on scans, I’d still want samples taken. They shouldn’t have assigned you another surgeon without discussing it with you first and the plan going into this procedure. I hope she looked closely at your scans, and if she had any doubt that she possibly couldn’t reach the area, this should’ve been discussed not only with you but your team. Your initial surgeon is supposed to be the best at this, which is why he took on your very complex case, so people need to provide you with a he*l of an explanation as to why this chain of events took place. I’d definitely second guess things now if it were me. Of course you have met with your surgeon. He may make you feel at ease, and that is most important, but I wouldn’t want them dropping the ball. It does happen. So do miracles, but I’m a believer in science first and foremost and when talking about possible life or death, I want to see a lot of factual evidence one way or another. You are such a gift to the world, and you deserve the best!! I’m anxiously awaiting your next update. I hope you get to go home soon to rest. 💙
@tammyslaughter95872 жыл бұрын
I agree I don’t understand why or how they could be certain that no chemo and especially radiation would shrink the tumor. I was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer and the first thing they did before surgery was chemo and high doses of radiation to shrink the tumor enough to obtain enough clear margins so as not to have to wear a permanent colostomy bag . After the colon resection and removal of tumor I wore an ileostomy bag until my colon healed, then the ileostomy was reversed. If I didn’t have radiation I wouldn’t be fully functional and would be wearing a colostomy bag the rest of my life. Her medical team’s decisions are just not making sense with the information we are getting.

I feel so sorry for you all the pain and frustration you are going through. I have been through breast cancer recently and the NHS in Britain seems very different from my experience here in the USA. I have a secure website where I can log on to look at my medical chart. Doctor’s notes, Lab and scan results usually show up within 24 hours of the tests. Often, I know my results before I see the doctor at the next visit so I can ask informed questions. I’m not saying our system is better. I really don’t know anything about the British healthcare system. Who knows, maybe some patients here find that too much medical information makes them anxious. I hope you feel better soon. I’m sure that everything will get sorted out. So glad your Doctor came by and put you at ease. You got this !

@julybailey23262 жыл бұрын
@@pensivern These results will absolutely be telling. One way or another there's absolutely no way to get around the results. You and I both know as nurses there is an explanation owed to her either way. I am lucky my physician has been in town 35 years and knows most radiologists on speed dial. If he can't reach them on the phone he marches to the hospital and has another radiologist on-site at that moment glance at the films immediately just to give him a quick update so our patients aren't waiting 3-5 days for the results from their oncologists. My boss doesn't care who he aggravates or offends because he sends them referrals and they make money off those referrals. If you have a good doctor you are in good hands. This comes down to one thing...why isn't her original surgeon getting the films and reviewing them and then Tiffany's mind would be at ease. Or at the very worst if the news isn't good then she can formulate the next plan of action quickly. It's not rocket science. It's call having a heart. Please God bless this young girl and help her get answers quickly.

Tiffany please continue to pressure your medical team for answers. It's your basic right. Not having taken a biopsy is certainly not because they could not find any cancer. It is a really sweet explanation from your mom probably to calm you down, but please never forget you are there to fight. Biopsy means taking samples from all kind of areas to check for cancer. It is surely not possible to detect from the human eye which little folds have cancer spots. So please stay strong and fight.

Nurse comment: Unfortunately surgeon's decide whether it's operable or not. It sounds like these surgeon's have all but given up on poor Tiffany. If they know they don't intend to do surgery then they should say that. They shouldn't just say "watch and wait" ...? Every single surgeon I know personally (around 19) has stated that colon cancer is ALWAYS removed. No matter what the size or grade of tumor. The ONLY curative treatment is surgery. Whether it's with chemo and or radiation or alone...surgery is 100% necessary for stage 3 or 4. Tiffany has been putting all her eggs in one basket with this one surgeon. There's absolutely no reason why another surgeon isn't taking over his cases. Believe me if I miss work, the staff is brought up to speed on my specific patients and another nurse can fill in...or I am called at home and I must be available to answer life threatening problems that I left on my last shift. That's why we have licenses. We aren't in the medical field to allow people to be ignored and deteriorate. This is a disgrace on that entire hospital. I don't know the laws in your country being in the US but I would probably look into legal advice moving forward. Sending constant prayers your way beautiful girl.

Tiffany, it is time to be brave and face hard facts. Surgery all likelihood is going to be necessary for a cure. No more watch and wait. Waiting may have contributed to the blockage. I think that you should take your sister or brother-in-law to your next appointment. The news is hard for Matt and Oma which can lead to denial including your own. I wish you all the best and I worry about you

I would highly suggest that you stop writing such things. Tiffany is already scared and doesn't need your negativity. You have no idea why the biopsy could not be taken, so stop guessing and painting everything black. Obviously, we need more information to evaluate the situation. But this is not helping

@Justbeing real Yes, we do know it couldn't be taken, but we don't know the reason behind it yet. So until then, I think it is better to keep a low profile and hope for the best. We can still deal with it after some new information. I know you don't mean ill, but Tiff was already so scared. Please don't add more fuel to this until we know more

For those interested, look up: Watch and wait approach in rectal cancer. This is a new trend for locally advanced rectal cancer that has shown a clinical response. Sounds like the odds are as good as the surgery which as we know can be life altering and life threatening. It sounds like rectal cancer and colon cancer are different beasts

Hi Tiffany, it's me again. I've commented on a few of your videos and answered some of your previous questions you've asked about in videos. My answers have always been blunt and from an unbiased opinion (as you've stated in previous videos, you prefer being told things bluntly). This was one of the few videos that were genuinely frustrating to watch, if I'm being honest. You're still taking morphine, still bleeding, experiencing stomach pain, and throwing up after eating. This isn't even close to being normal, Tiffany. You really need to stop worrying about hurting these medical professionals' feelings. We get sworn at and berated daily by patients, I can assure you, you wanting to speak to your own surgeon isn't hurting anyone's feelings. Myself, as well as many other healthcare workers, have been recommending you reach out about patient advocacy programs or at the least, bring someone with you that has a medical background or can retain the information you're being told clearly. Yet, you're still always with Aemma, or Matt, who are both lovely, but above all want to give you answers of comfort, not anything that might be bad. This is why you keep coming out of these things so confused, and with no answers. You always mention your want to protect Aemma and Matt from all the "bad" medical information, but what about you? Above all, you need to protect YOURSELF, which will unfortunately not happen unless you start sincerely asking the difficult questions that you've been avoiding. I also beg you to actually do research on your cancer. I know you've previously stated that you've never searched up information regarding your cancer, but I strongly advise you to do so. It's undoubtedly scary, but you yourself, need to understand in great detail what's going on inside your own body. Having that knowledge is power. I send so much love to you and I hope to see you genuinely advocating for yourself in the future, Tiffany. 💙

Honestly for the life of me I cannot understand why this family member of hers who is a doctor isn’t taking a more active role. He’s sees what she’s going through, maybe even knows this “great” doctor that Tiff is putting all her faith in. He could probably even see her medical records if Tiffany granted permission. Probably only take a phone call and a frank discussion doctor to doctor. Feel so bad for what she’s going through. She deserves so much better.

Tiffany, I normally would not suggest to anyone what they should or should not eat, but this is a different circumstance, where you need good, nourishing food as a cancer patient. I notice in all videos people are offering you cakes, sweets (did a relative recently send you a large box of chocolates?), and your "go-to" comfort foods are white flour pastas and breads and fried potatoes. As a cancer patient of course you seek comfort through some favorite foods, but this is the time to eat more with the idea in mind that "We are what we eat" and "Food as Medicine", and to put off the favorites until you are cancer free, if you ever decide to return to them. *If you look up "worst foods to eat when you have cancer" one of the first thing comes up is crisps and fried potatoes, and all manner of packaged foods with processed VEGETABLE OILS. Please take this to heart, it is so important. It is these TRANS FATS, oils like canola and palm, that are highly processed, and very bad for cancer prevention. Ideally none of us would eat them, but in moderation it seems okay for many, although it contributes to many diseases. *If you love potatoes, please get an AIR FRIER, which makes the potatoes crisp with NO OIL. PLEASE DO NOT EAT MCDONALDS, at least not while you are still ill. It is just about the worst food you could eat now. I know it seems as though a harmless pack of crisps could do no harm, but the opposite is true. The last thing you should be eating is sweets and any fried food. Please have your family support you in this, dear Tiffany, and look up "cancer diet" for anti-inflammatory diet, which will aid in your recovery.

@@janetl9546 It's frustrating for those of us who care, and who understand the food-health connection, but I'm thinking it isn't that Tiffany doesn't care, it's that she might put 100% faith in what her doctor tells her, and if he hasn't mentioned diet, she believes it's not going to help her to make any changes. Doctors get such a minor amount of training in nutrition in medical school. I have friends in England and Scotland and they all tell me their doctors rarely if ever test for vitamin or mineral deficiencies, or talk to them about their diet. Here in the U.S. it is different, although not vastly different; depends on the part of the country you live in I suppose. I live in California, where you can find doctors of Integrative Medicine.

@@traceyb3805 I know there are doctors of Integrative Medicine. But generally they are not the doctors people see. All my UK friends tell me how difficult it is to get treatment from them, and how their doctors of mainstream medicine do not ever ask them about their diet.

I would have had three opinion during your time from chemo and get a clearer picture of what is going on. I feel frustrated for you your always in the dark, it’s not normal practice. Sending you love and lifting you in prayer. I’m so frustrated by your care. I know you trust your surgeon but I want to know why he’s not performing surgeries. If he can see patients in clinic, why no surgeries? Perhaps I’m being paranoid. If this was happening in the United States, I would think he’s possibly under investigation for something that prohibits him from performing more surgeries until the investigation is complete. I’m so worried for you as I feel you aren’t getting the care you deserve. I just care for you so much! I hope you get more answers soon. 💙💙💙

Interesting theory about him being investigated. You have to step back and look at all his peculiar actions instead of his endearing bedside manners. But, really the entire team has been strange as well. What about the female doctor who was all over the place with answers - and she was replacing the oncologist who also couldn't talk to Tiffany?? Even the doctor who performed the biopsy was vague. It's like a coordinated effort to keep the patient in the dark.

Can I ask why you trust 'your' doctor or surgeon, so much, when he hasn't even done what he is meant to do? Why did you send your boyfriend away when you were going into surgery, do you think whilst he's away he'll have fun and not think of you? Whenever I'm sick or vulnerable my partner is there and likewise, for him, it makes our relationship stronger. Otherwise, he's just your friend. I'm not sure about this. This is a frightening situation, sad to see.

It's hard to understand how there is a blockage and they are allowing you to eat and you are throwing up, as well as why are you in the hospital if they did nothing?? Hopefully, we will undertand better once you are home and not so medicated. It must be hard articulating what is going on when you are on such strong Morphine. Please take care!

Tiffany. Having seen this last video I feel numb, frustrated and upset for you. The upcoming meeting with your medical team will be one of the most important of your life. Please ensure that you are meeting fully informed Doctors who can answer your questions. Please prepare beforehand and list your questions, anxieties. Please bring someone with you who will advocate for you. Please ask for their plan of action. Please do not leave the room until you are clear with your diagnosis and treatment/operation plan. Tiffany, if you are still confused after the meeting, request your file and scans and get a second opinion. Please Tiffany...we all want the best for you. No more waiting. Its your health and life.
