You can also use golden satin glazing liquid if its for marker bleedthrough it completely stops it

What a grand idea... I see on the US Amazon; they also have a transparent ground by Daniel Smith. I think I might give that one a go. They have the 4 oz. jar for $13.25. It will be worth every penny to have it work! Thanks so much for sharing this amazing hack with us!

I was wondering about this I don't like markers because of the bleed through but the colors are pretty will have to try this as I love watercolor and gouache

I have heard you can use golden satin glazing liquid, or matte medium as well. I am still experimenting with other things. Also there is a transparent watercolor ground if you don't want to lighten the lines. I am trying to find a way to work in the cheap amazon paper books, where the markers don't bleed over the lines so badly.

They make the watercolor ground in transparent. Would that also work? That way it doesn't effect the lines of the picture?

I love that you could use watercolour as well. I use Stabilo, Pentel or Faber Castle Pitt pens these have a non alcohol ink, I'm new to colouring in a book, so if this not news to you forgive me. ☺

I use watered-down wood glue for a cheaper option. Doesn’t work with pencil as well but great for alcohol markers! ❤️🇦🇺

I checked out US Amazon, which also sells this. They have white titanium, transparent and pearlescent. Wondering if it would matter which to buy/use? What is the color you're using Debi?

what is the gsm of the paper in your journal? This is important when discussing this topic. The paper sounds thick, especially if you were using watercolors. Try this on thinner paper or various weights to really test your idea.

You can also make watercolor ground: Mix 3 to 4 tsp of bicarbonate soda (bread soda, and available from the baking section of most supermarkets) into gesso
