I Worked in Harrah's before I Joined the Navy in August 1986. I live in 395 E 2nd Street and I'm now RETIRED US NAVY. I thanked RENO for giving us Employment ❤

Worked graveard at Harold's club in 1971. I always remember the armored box and 2 guards coming out of the bank around 7AM and headed into Harolds club. Virginia Street was so alive back then. I joined the Navy and was sorely disappointed with what Virginia street has become when I returned a 2+ decades later.

Very interesting. Love the History. I’ve been coming to RENO since the Mapes era. Got married in RENO at “The Reno Wedding Chapel” in 1980. Today I participate in Hot August nights events regularly.

Man, our downtown is a hellscape of urban decay and poor planning. Thank you for your work!

That’s odd on the news and others in Reno say it’s really nice now.I have stayed away,Mostly they talk about beer and restaurants, guess the don’t advertise the homeless and tents.

Two exceptions from the ‘60s come to mind- the Sands on West St - I think, maybe Arlington (?) and the Peppermill on South Virginia- although I’m not sure if the city limits were that far south at the time. Also not sure if the Riverside was in the red zone. The Silver Legacy was the site of the Mayfair Market and The Grey Reid’s department store is where the Circus Circus is - or it’s the other way around. Yeah,,the Squeeze In, Landrums, Sewells market, Hash Lane… My home town has been erased

That's some nice video of downtown Reno. I am there for my job everyday by the Arch and there is not one day that there aren't homeless animated people all over the place. How did you manage to film without that?

Heard GSR is expanding kinda disappointing as I am not a big fan of the owner, guess gambling and greed go hand in hand.

Make Northern Nevada non gambling area, and let southern Nevada be the gambling area ! Let all the garbage move down south! Reno is really a beautiful city, just caught up with the gambling, which bring all the drug addicts and negative attitude to the northern nevada!
