Pile #1: For me it's not only a year that this person hadn't been in contact, but over FORTY years!! It was a shock to find a Friend Request from him on Facebook. I never expected it. I was the one to walk away 40 years ago, not because I didn't love him but because of the great cultural and religious differences between us. I was very young and very scared, and he was much older than me. Also, it was like you said, he made almost no effort. All the work was done by me. Now he's not acting much different. Still no contact even after I responded to the Friend Request! We're both so old, and yet he keeps wasting more time. But all the old feelings came back full force for me.
