I use about half as much water with excellent success. My recipe is 16c of sugar, 1/2c of water, 1 tablespoon of feeding stimulant such as Honey B Healthy, and 1 teaspoon white vinegar. Mix, then pack into a lightly-oiled 9x12 cake pan. Let sit overnight and it's ready to pop out of the pan and put on the hive. I use a baggie feeder to provide room for the sugar cake (www.brushymountainbeefarm.com/10-Frame-Baggie-Feeder/productinfo/645/). I always clean the kitchen before the bride sees the mess I made.

+Blaine Nay --- I may switch to less water. I checked on the bricks this morning and only the top half, the top layer, was hardened. The bottom was more or less holding its shape, but it's still moist. Either I need to use less water or leave it longer to harden. Part two of the video showing the results will probably show up later today.

@@mudsongs For either Blaine or Mud Song is it better to do lots of sugar little water or lots of water little sugar when you are trying to feed but don't want it to get out of control? (Or for weaning them out of having had feed before?) Would both ways work of sort of mixing it so they have to work for it so much that it keeps them from going out of control? Thanks.

@@noahriding5780 -- For the sugar bricks, I lean more towards less water. More water and the bricks tend to fall apart. The bees might be able to consume it quicker if it's wetter, sort of like fondant, but I haven't noticed much difference either way.
