A bit of delusional grandeur by the family. That car will stay where it is unloved for years as no one else will give them an offer on a let’s face it a Jaguar model that was never a popular one in the first place. Especially a V12 with strombergs. Move on with your stable of great Jaguars and give them all some love. Another Jaguar will appear as they always do and you can get that instead.

Pretty low act by the VDP owner. A holding deposit is an agreement and should be honoured. Some people have no integrity.

Might have been a blessing in disguise I’ve been bitten bad with double six’s my XJC was a 4.2 manual with overdrive British racing green with tan leather it was a 1976 I bought it 84 dirt cheap then as nobody wanted them in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 UK £400 had many jaguars best one was my mark 2 3.8 automatic belonged to chivas regal the whisky 🥃 company paisley 43 thousand miles from new I bought it in 1977 for £750 pounds beautiful car wish I had kept it worth a few Bob now

I think every Jaguar or car enthousiast knows how it feels when a car that you like to buy or have bought isn't going to be yours after all for some reason. It sucks big time because you fell already in love with the car. However, i am sure you will find another nice Jag in the future, although they are really getting rare, well over here anyways.

Oh yeah , the old engine mount repair using araldite. Been there, done that. Lasted a few hours .... Although I think I reinforced it with tie-wire, Anyway, a big flop .....

After seeing that you have a beautiful two door I don't feel so sorry for you not getting the VDP, the dogs wotsits! I made the mistake once of agreeing a sale on a tidy little Standard 10 for silly low money, paid a deposit then went to get the balance, don't know why (guilty conscience) I said to the seller that would understand if someone came up with a better offer..... an hour later he sold it to a chap who offered double... doh! I won't do that again?

When we went to buy our first Mk2 we found a lovely 3.4 MOD on CWWs. It was OEW with a light tan interior so would have been ideal on hot summer's days. We left a deposit & arranged to return the next day with the rest of the cash. A couple of hours after getting home we received a phone call from the seller informing us he had sold the car to someone else for a few dollars more. We were not happy & after that experience my husband carried a huge wad of cash so we could pay the full amount & take the car away there & then.
