In this quick video, we’re going to learn WHY and WHEN we add -ing to verbs in English. 🎉
Now, for Spanish speakers, this can be tricky because we think we only add -ing when the verb ends in -ando or -endo in Spanish. 💬 But guess what? -ing has way more uses in English, and there are some cool rules to follow.
✔️When a verb acts like a noun in a sentence - either as the subject or the object - it’s called a gerund.
💡 For example, in the sentence “Swimming is fun,” swimming is the subject, just like a noun would be. And in “I love swimming,” swimming is the object of the verb love, making it a noun too!
Gerunds are awesome 🤗 because they turn actions into things or ideas 🧠 It’s like saying, “I don’t just do it, I think about it as a thing!”
