No Fish Is Worth Your Life: Safe Boating Near Dams

This video depicts the dangers encountered while boating too close to a hydroelectric dam. Radio controlled boats with dummies aboard are used to show the dangers of the violent currents created by the spillways.

I’d imagine the life jackets helped recover the mannequins, but I appreciate that they’re also demonstrating that life jackets should be worn. Also, the life jackets wont be much use up against a dam

Watched two old guys fishing on the hydro wall of wheeler lake dam on Wilson lake gwt out with seconds after they turned on thousands of cfs from the hydro it would have eat them man was that scary

Wish you hadn't destroyed that nice aluminum boats and especially that outboard jet, i could have used that! Also not real cool watching that battery fly off the front deck. Theres thousands of trash boats waiting to go to landfills that would have worked just fine. Waste of $

Looks like could have big industrial nets across those spots, that would not affect the water flow at all, but would stop boats from falling.

Then the boats would just be pinned against the net and the force of the water and would still kill the people involved. Not to mention the nets would catch all manner of lake debris.

Or boaters just use their heads and not rely upon others to safeguard them from real life hazards.
