I have a simple question regarding doing double leg takedown in MMA situation. Please don't crap on me for how simple it is. When my opponent has his left leg forward, what are the advantages and disadvantages of shooting for a double leg where my head goes to the right side of his body? Versus the left side of his body? Thank you.

You risk running into the rear knee shooting to the back leg, generally it's always safer striking wise to move to the outside away from the power side

I circle to the inside, transition to an inside single. Try to shoot a double on an experienced grappler on the outside and you will get guillotined.

If your left foot is forward your head will be on the right side and putting head of the inside would be the left.khbib shoots far hip all the time off his overhand it’s like an op 50/50 on a video game just risky running onto things

does anyone know what it's called when you do a double leg like this but as you drive into the hips you stand only on your left toes and bring your right foot around to sweep his right heel? It's a really effective takedown I've used a number of times but I've never seen anyone else use it. If you also use your hip while they are tripping you can get into side control.

@@dinopalavra876 Close but I'm talking about bringing the right foot all the way around both of his legs, like a step over in football. I think there's a judo takedown like it but the way I do it I drive my shoulder into their hips at the same time to generate the force with the trip so they go down.

Would be great to see this. Sounds like you go to an outside trip from the double leg maybe? Doing a different move, bringing your left foot round to trap the opponents left foot, some call it a reaper I think.

Keep your back straight, i.e. your head, neck, & shoulder vertically aligned as much as possible when charging at your opponent so it's hard for your opponent to wrap his arm around your neck. If your head & back are horizontal and your head reaches your opponent first, he can easily wrap his arm around your neck.

Also, one thing that has helped, is look up as much as you can when they try to guillotine. I haven't heard this from anyone else, I also have a long neck so i get caught in the guillotine a ton. So this may be a me only thing, arch your neck up as much you can like you are looking up when they guillotine. And if your head is on the left side (hopefully you know what side to pass if you are in the guillotine already. Your head on his left side, pass his guard over his right leg) so in prep for that if head is on his left side, block his right leg from completing full guard on you so you can pass AS you are falling. This works for at my level of BJJ anyways. Fyi high arm guillotine, the way marcelo Garcia does his, can catch any double leg no matter how good your form is, he does regularly on high level guys at adcc, which means they know how to double leg and were confident in theirs. Do whatever you want with the neck, just start thinking about passing opposite side of the guillotine as you are falling ie before he does otherwise you will get caught in full guard and you're toast.

Use a power double instead. Change levels keep your head up. Hit the bottom center crest of the ribs with the forehead drive through. Just make sure you don't land in his full gard.

If you get caught in a guillotine, just finish the double, jump over his guard, take side control, and you can posture forward and up, or catch him in a Von Flue.

Look up, your head/neck should be pushed into their arm pit so they cant close their arm around ur head/neck also when pushing up/back ur head should be pushing to the side into their body
