You both deserve this so much, remember that what you are building, whether your home or your KZbin channel, is all for nothing if you sacrifice your health and your family time to achieve it. Take time regularly for yourselves as a family, because ultimately once you've dedicated all your time to your work, it will be too late for anything but regrets.

Very nice that you managed to get away for a holiday trip - and timing it for getting rid of those power poles and wires was opportune. To keep wasps away, hang a paper bag filled with packing material and a few pebbles to bulk it out to look like a wasp nest. No wasps will nest near it or venture around that spot. I've been doing this for three years and it works. My heart goes out to the electric company worker.

The last “long” drought in Texas, it had been so long since we’d had rain; that when it did finally rain, I ran outside and danced in it. Water binds us to the land, and to each other. I love my adopted home state (Texas), but I miss the rain and green of my “true” home state (Florida).

I know exactly how you feel about losing those old electric poles. I remember when we had our old garbage can replaced with a shiny new one. There were so many good memories attached to the old can. Chasing it down the street during a windstorm, giving it a yearly bath, trudging down the driveway in two feet of snow carrying it to the curb, and standing on it to hang Xmas lights. It's been 17 years since the dented rust bucket actually went into the garbage truck. Thinking about it brings tears to our eyes. At least you have photo's of your poles. We never took any.

Exactly, I remember using those aluminum trash cans as a vessel...we would wash them clean and take them up a grass hill and climb into it and roll down the hill. It was fun and dangerous, but we had all the kids at bottom of hill ready to stop catch us and then the next kid would go up and do it again. The hill wasn't that high, it was just high enough to roll our small butts down as we all laughed coming down 🤪 Miss doing that, memories are all we have now but boy we had fun. Blessings to you and your family from El Paso Texas 💙

I found a strawberry field in the mountains of Montana when I was young, after realizing I was stomping the strawberries, I figured out I could pick and eat them. A short while later a breeze blew in my face and it carried the foulest smell. A black bear had decided to join me in the patch, and even from 50ish yards away its stench was gagging. I actually had a brief moment of good sense and took me and my fishing pole the opposite direction of the bear.

Loved the drone footage. So cool. Thanks for bringing the viewing public a long on your trip. Seeing the bears was really exciting. A tool kit for the car is essential. My dad gave me one when I got my first car decades ago and I still carry one to this day along with things I have added through the years, like a battery operated tire inflator, extra oil, brake fluid, window washer fluid, anti-freeze, rags, a funnel, duct tape, spool of wire, clamps, some nuts and bolts, tire repair kit and small gas can. Taking down the power poles sure cleaned up the property nicely. Can't wait to see what you two do next. Stay safe, have fun and keep enjoying life. Love your show.

Something flatlanders never experience. As I live out what may be few years left as a flatlander again I really wish I was back in the mountains somewhere, anywhere. Ok. Here's the plan. The barn is replaced with a shop/garage. In between the shop and house will be a storm/root cellar. In between projects will include additional water storage for catchment of the rain roofs on shop and above cellar. Garden placement will need to be determined by best sun or diffused sun location. Near future will call for separate bldg to house new and improved battery storage for power. Don't forget the raised fort/playhouse with downstairs accommodations for the pups. Well, that's just a beginning. When do you get started?

Good plans. As for the barn, now that the house is done, and they have more tools and experience, perhaps convert the barn to a guest (or club) house. We need somewhere to stay besides the trailer when we visit. LOL Speaking of "pups," wonder what they did with the dogs. Since they really don't have nearby neighbors (at least that they have talked about) I suspect they left the dogs at a dog kennel. (?)

A hint - If you set your mower on its highest setting [we mow our yard at 5”), your grass will stay green later into the summer. We have similar summer weather, here in southern Illinois and our yard never browns out. Something to consider.

Setting it to low cuts into the vines or roots therefore killing the grass.

Since they’re in TX, they likely have warm season Bermuda grass that needs to be cut short. It’s not the same kind of cool seasons grass as IL.

I remember you saying somebody accused you of having an electric power supply a while back, they can't do that now. It looks better now with the poles gone. Good for you all to have a well needed break, after over four years working on your house. Best wishes for a safe and healthy life, stay away from bears. ❤

Thank you for taking us along. I am house bound, and I loved to see these places. I can't believe I have been watching your channel for 4 1/2 years. To cool! I feel relief having those eye sores gone as well lol. I was afraid a munchkin might get hurt with a loose wire. Make the agitator in the pond with fishes so you all don't have vipers coming around your home. Huggz!

Wonderful! I don't know you, but having enjoyed your videos for years, I too am so pleased you got that time to relax and renew your perspective on your achievements, and... everything! Brilliant. I was also surprised even down a camera lens to see the huge difference it made with the poles gone. Next tool... an electric car, surely? (not least as a large backup battery)

I love seeing you and Spencer taking some much needed time off. Spending time with little ones is a treasure. They do not stay little for long. My grandbaby is now 22 months old already. We have started to plan her 2nd birthday party already. It seems like yesterday. I was giving me daughter a kiss and telling her everything will be ok. And welcome to motherhood. as I told my son in law stay with both to them, as they were leaving for the hospital. Time flies by. So take time each day for your kids each other and for you both. Thank you for being all of us on this journey with you. I just can not wait for another video to drop. Seeing what is happening and how everyone is. God bless you all .

Oh boy, I did laugh when you arrived at your second destination, to find the mother bear and her cubs casually strolling up its driveway 🤣 It was classic to hear your son say, “bear” 🤣👏🏻 So pleased that as a family you got some time away to rest, relax and have time together. As a couple, you are amazing together and your achievement on building your own home is fantastic. Best wishes from Scotland. Ps: we don’t have bears here but we do have bees 🤭🤣😜

We just had a microburst knock down 20-odd power poles along a back road where we are. Must have been terrifying for the houses right next to them. Fortunately, the poles fell the other way from the houses... but unfortunately, that way was across the road, blocking it with energized wires. ⚡😳
