A topic suggestion. A big part of toy collecting is the high when you find something cool. When I'm digging through bins at the thrift store I feel like a treasure hunter. I've fou d everything from He-Man figures and accessories to GUTS figures and knock off Madballs. What are your thoughts on thrift stores and also the environmental aspect of getting used toys?

I’m more relaxed when it comes to graded items, I have graded MOC and loose vintage SW figures but also have the full run of loose figures ungraded and on display. Different ways of collecting are good as it makes the hobby more interesting, if grading wasn’t a thing then the discussion about it wouldn’t exist and I love hearing different collectors opinions on it.

I didn’t think about it much until I started seeing people grading VHS and yeah I am not with it at all. You’re totally right, it makes it so sterilized and void of character. I guess it would be nice to keep the dust off some stuff…haha

Really interesting and refreshing take on the whole grading scenario...I guess its what ever floats ya boat ya get me...im not so bothered about grading never gave it huge amounts of thought...a removable protective case I could get on board with if its an item you want to protect but not a permanent sealed case...as you say defeats the object of being a toy enthusiast! the grading is there for you to know what you are getting. you still have the option to crack them open and enjoy the figure the way you wanted to.

I agree with you on grading. Dont think its worth it for me but ive been thinking about getting acrylic cases for my vintage nightmare on elm street figures to keep them in good condition. Atleast with those you can still remove them from the case.

I've bought 2 graded star wars figures in my life. I busted both out of the plastic case immediately after receiving them.

I have heard WATA are a reputable grading company ;) . I cant stand grading for the same reasons i prefer collecting loose toys, MIB / MISB / graded toys take up more space, cost more and limit display options for the collector making it a no for me personally.

grading toys is like grading comics is a scam. Comic collectors have also open the seals and send them to be graded and it came with a different grade results. THe only people making money are the grading companies. Also, why in the fck would you want to grade a videogame. I enjoy playing the game with friends, drinking beers and having women come over, not to have that game sealed. You can't even play with it.

It's all about monetary value sadly. I get why you'd want a plastic case for say a diorama for show but not for purely financial reasons. A collection of them on a shelf doesn't appeal to me, knowing I couldn't touch them would kill the passion of collecting toys

Grading is a scam and it has been pushes prices up for collectors in cards, comics, games, toys, etc.

I think graded items not just toys are a money racket similar to the NFT hype. I like collecting comics and DVDs but I don't look for rare or what's valuable, just go by the cover art or something to watch.

Am not a fan of grading so I'm in complete agreement here. If people want to get stuff graded or collect graded stuff that's fine for them but it's not important to me to have graded figures or be able to get them. For me I don't see the appeal, I see collections that are all graded figures in acrylic boxes and it doesn't look exciting to me. Same as you, my collection isn't about stuff being perfect or valuable, I just want cool stuff that's fun to have on display, and grading just isn't fun to me. Plus there is a whole world of alleged dodgy behaviour in (especially sealed videogame) grading, watch Karl Jobst's vid on WATA grading and Hetitage Auctions to find out a bit more about that. It all comes down to money in the end and that's not what collecting is about for me (except for trying to get good deals of course!)

It's the opposite of my kind of collecting. I quite like having toys with a bit of wear, gives them character and reminds you they've been around a while and had their own history. I get frustrated I can't play with my carded figures, so never gonna want them in a sealed perspex box!

i don’t like the grading and perspex boredom either. but i do like toys to be valuable. i’ve been to some mad auctions where a piece of chinese crockery sells for millions or some work of absolute shite modern art. for me if anything is going to be valuable it should be something cool like a henshin cyborg or a boglin etc. anyway great channel. keep it up

They charge for shipping/ grading/ returning. If it can't be graded then they still charge you

Grading is not for me I’m afraid and it’s a subject that seems to spark all out war within toy forums and groups 😆. Toys for me aren’t about value. I like it when something I have is worth more of course. But I have figures that are worth £1000 and I have no plans to sell it, because it will go down in value eventually and I’m totally fine with that.
