Hey Magnus, thanks for all the content. Here are my ideas: 1. Tutorials will broaden your audience. Especially tutorials for beginners. (This one is obvious.Also I think those would be boring for you, so refer to my other ideas.) 2. Pick a route or (more practical) a boulder indoors or outdoors and go into detail how to do it. (And actually climb it obviously) Often people on YT just explain what you can already see but don't tell you what you can't see. I guess it's hard to explain but if anyone can do it, it's you. Just anything that you can think of what may be of relevance to solve the climb. 3. Tricks that you learned or invented during your career. Like that rope swing to the first clip gabriel moroni did in arco. I'm not a route climber so I didn't know that one but is was hilarious. (You probably would have to incorporate those into other videos. Kinda like the "pro tips" you already do but maybe more serious. Though your "pro tips" are still awesome.) 4. Something that might broaden your audience further, because non-climbers might want to see it as well: Spectacular stuff on routes and boulders. Like you always had to show off one finger pullups and front levers for the "normie-cameras". People love that stuff. Awesome dynos, combinations of long moves in the roof, footless stuff, very fast moves, basically anything where people say "what??!". Like you would want to advertise climbing. (Think of red bull, how they always show the extremes). You obviously know this already but I think you can do this in shorter videos as well when you get the hang of it. (Tomoa Narasakis workout clips on his instagram are another example. Even though they are no full and edited videos I still love them.) Some stuff may not be for you, for example explanation and teaching(?), but I hope you got something from this long post. (Sorry for the length) Keep crushing

I think that no matter what you do, climbing wise, people will be interested. Even if it's, "just gym climbing", people are interested because that is actually what you do for the majority of the training. I personally watch for the climbing as well as your personality. If you find a way to put your personality into shorter videos, even if they are shorter with less editing, I, and many others, will still watch and be interested.

Magnus, I am not sure if you still see this comment, but I have recently stumbled upon your vlog and was immediately hooked. Now I have been watching from vlog #1! Your are the fist channel on KZbin that I've been faithfully following. Personally, I think that your vlog captures the true side of you, your personality (goofiness, in particular, which I love) and climbing as well is what makes your channel much more interesting. IF I wanted to watch only climbing, I would've popped over to other climbing videos. Seeing comments below, I think people prefer more climbing oriented videos, but I do hope you still include your lifestyle that comes with climbing and non climbing! (I love your talking as well :)) I am on vlog #79 and haven't watched the most recent ones, but it seems that the frequency of video uploading has been decreasing. Oh well, as long as you don't stop vlogging, that would be fine! Keep living the dream. Thanks for the inspiration! Cheers from South Korea

I'll quite happily watch whatever you upload. Your climbing is awesome to get me psyched, and when you're not climbing, it's easy to just sit back and watch (especially when you're being goofy). What I would love to see though, which I don't think I've seen anywhere before, is something like you set yourself a project, and have episodes in which you train for it, keep trying it and get closer and closer until you finally get it. I think it'd be really cool to see what goes through your mind in that scenario, as well as how you overcome the obstacles you encounter :)

2 things, I think: - Tutorials, for climbing and training - videos of you pulling really hard or doing some crazy training shit. Climbing vids do two things for me. They either teach me something or they get me psyched. I'd also love to see you set a route or boulder specifically for your training purposes. You're super human to the rest of us, it would be neat to see you set something that even you couldn't do right away.

One of the main reasons i love climbing is because of the lifestyle that comes along with it. Personally i think you are living the dream. I love seeing what you do when you're not climbing, and you have a very likeable personality on camera. My suggestion would be to keep doing what you're doing and dont exclude the car bits, eating bits, travel bits, meetings and other non-climbing related stuff because it adds something that we often dont get to see. If i want to see purely climbing related content i'll just pop over to Eric Karlsson's page. Cheers
@magmidt7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Personally I would love to show more of that! That was the reason I got into KZbin in the first place - To show the more real raw side of what I do. It seems like most people want to see more climbing related vids though. Showing only climbing and training would probably attract a larger audience, but at the same time I feel like my other SoMe channels are for that and I want to keep YT somewhat genuine.

Hi Magnus! Thanks a lot for your inspiring videos. Maybe, you should consider making a series of related videos. Here are a couple of examples: - If you plan to project (or repeat) some hard route that is challenging for you it would be very interesting to see videos where you explain how you prepare for that route. Like, which moves are hard for you and how you train them in the gym etc. - If coaching is an option for you, pick some guy in the gym that aims to climb 7A (just an example) and make videos where you help him to prepare for that grade. Sorry, if I repeat already written ideas. Take care!

It's amazing what you're doing for the sport! The more different types of video you post, the more people will start looking for the sport. When I started watching your videos I had never even heard about the word 'bouldering' and I searched many things on the internet to keep up with some expressions you used! That's where you gotta act!!! You can/should talk more about the types of climbing, types of training, types of competition, pontuation in competition, expressions, the materials you use (ropes, walls, magnesium carbonate, etc), about how are the grades defined, about your sponsors and which are the companies that actually help the development of the sport!! There are SO MANY THINGS that lay (but interested) people would love to see and learn from the best! You should definetly keep up with the vlogging, and make it a playlist of the channel, while you create new playlist(s) about things that can bring new people into the sport, and also into the channel. I am saying this as a person who watched almost all of your vlogs and HAVE NEVER CLIMBED YET!!! I watch just because I like the song, the style, the peace, your personality, but I felt the lack of information about the sport in your vlogs! YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!

If youre looking to grow your channel, ofcourse the first step is to figure out what audience you want to hit, and then appropriating your videos from that standpoint. For example if your target audience is going to be the climbing community then going ahead with a good mix of intructing videos for begginners, intermediate videos for people that are already into climbing, and videos where you showcase your individual skill as a climber would problably be a good starting point. If youre instead looking to bring in "everyone", then videos of "insane" stuff would give you a chance of getting viral videos, strength challenges and competions between climbers(like Nile Wilson does for gymnastics) would be a good place to start in this department. In the end I believe that sort of doing what youre doing is good, we love your personality and your mix of videos, and if you keep doing what youre doing, you will slowly build an audience like any another youtuber. :)

Shorter Videos is a good idea 👍
@magmidt7 жыл бұрын
I agree. Though, making a short vlog is almost as much work for me as making a long vlog. But it's probably different if I were to make other kind of videos.

please expain to all sunday climbers like me how, you pro climbers, clip so fast when you climb so i can save a bit of my poor endurance...anyway i follow your vlog since the beginning and i can tell it's motivating for all of us who enjoy climbing. thanks

Haha I think it mainly comes from the amount of draws we have clipped, but I can maybe show some different techniques in a video once:)
@KelvinClimber7 жыл бұрын
well, making shorter video's could work to, or like somethinge like kinda montage like video's of boulders and routes you do, I myself mostly mostly make montage like video's cause i tend to enjoy my video's that way best, maybe cause my editing skills are very soft still, you could also make talk over diffrent type of climbs where you explain what you are doing step for step very simple or more advanced. Wanted to leave this so you got some idea's talk over climbs video i have seen a climbing youtuber named Mani The Monkey do allot, and those video's were cool, were he try to be as informative as possibol. Of course vlogs take a long time to make, just normal video's take a long time to make

Hi Magnus. I would guess that there are more beginners than pro climbers watching your channel. Therefore, like so many others, I also would like to suggest tutorials. But do it a little bit differently. When you climb/boulder a route or work out in the training room, you make things look easy. But I experienced myself (intermediate) that the reality is totally different. The holds you are using can be considered non-existent for me. What looks like a small hopp for you on youtube is in reality a mega dino. What looks a little steep is totally overhanging in reality. So my suggestion is the following: Define different target groups/topics: I.e. This tutorial is dedicated to the intermediate climber (5a to 6b) and we are dealing with crimping in vertical/overhanging terrain. It would be important to show the contrast between you, the pro climber, and the intermediate climber doing the same route/boulder, to really make people understood how hard it is for the regular person. Based on the “mistakes” of the intermediate, you can build up you tutorial. And as a non-Norwegian living in Norway, I would like to encourage you to show more of regular Norwegian life. I have seen that you can keep a critical distance 😊. I really enjoy your channel. It provides a great deal of motivation. Still love your comment from some time ago “… climbing is 99 percent about failure”. Please keep it up. Cheers.

And, by the way, it's always a pleasure to see about you, whatever you decide to put on the camera. You're a smart and cool guy, excellent climber. You just help me thinking I can still improve, even at 47.. So please, continue to be yourself, because it worth a lot, believe me.

I am more likely to watch a full 7 minute video of cuts of you trying some problems than these 30 minute vlogs, which I usually skip around on to get to the climbing. So if it's easier for you to do a shorter more focused video, I think that just as many of your followers will watch it.

Thank you for the feedback! It's actually a lot easier for me to make longer videos, rather than make shorter more frequent videos. But I will try my best to keep the length down. And if I make longer videos I will add a time link (like in this vlog) so that it's easy for people to skip straight to the climbing.

I must contest one false claim made in this video. A girls foot is not just a smaller version of a guys foot. Someone isn't thinking with their taste buds.

Less talking, more climbing (Tips and tricks are also nice)
@TheGreinprecht7 жыл бұрын
I love your vlogs and the climbing, but you seriously should cut a lot of the talking, its a 30 Minute long video with 12 Minutes of climbing in it....
@magmidt7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, there was a lot of talking in this one. I don't know if you saw I put a time link at the very top of the description so that people can only watch the climbing. I think that is a pretty good way to do it. That way those who only want to watch the climbing can skip straight to it, while those who wish can watch the longer vlog can do that. Though I probably won't make many vlogs this long..
@BlocBusters7 жыл бұрын
you should shorten your Vlogs, i think 26min is too long. in my opinion you should aim for ~10 minutes. keep up the good work!

Hey Gobbi, Yeah, maybe. Though, I think most people who upload a video to KZbin try to find a catchy title and thumbnail to spike people's interest. As long as it's somewhat relevant to the video I don't feel too bad doing it.
@gobbidimerda24967 жыл бұрын
I like your videos and always watch them, they are inspiring. Obviously I didn't expect to see you climbing a roof with no hands, you're not johnny dawes lol. I just found the title a little bit extreme. Keep on uploading, good job, peace.
