@NerdAdjacent This is true. You can't tell by my profile photo but my hair is extremely curly (not natural hair texture but still very curly by white standards. Think Howard Stern style hair) and my mother could not care for it growing up so I had to have short hair for most of my life. To the point where I was finally able to grow it out that I didn't know what to do with it either so shaved it off....

Agreed! My mom and I just have the Italian waves/loose curls and even that is difficult to style! My straight-haired friends always make fun of me for dedicating at least half a day for washing/styling/air drying my hair. They just don’t get it! I have much respect and appreciation for those who can wrangle even more textured styles than mine! Like I have literally no idea how they do it!

How amazing that you took the time to educate yourself on how to care for her hair properly. Such a beautiful thing. I used to babysit a little girl with 4C hair and her mom had to drop her off very early in the morning so she never had time to do her hair really cute for school and just put it up in a ponytail. She was really upset one morning because all the girls at school were making fun of her for her hair and saying her mom didn’t love her because she never did her hair. That’s the day I decided to go to the beauty supply store and buy all the products I needed for her hair and asked the ladies there a million questions. They finally asked why I was asking so many questions and when I told them they told me to bring her in after school and they sat with us for hours and taught me how to do her hair. We went back multiple times at no cost and they taught me so much. I’ve never appreciated anything more in my life. That little girl was so happy and her mom was so appreciative. Her mom ended up being my very best friend and the little girl is now 22 years old and I’m her sons godmother. A small act of kindness goes a long way.

EDIT: I hate that race has to constantly be brought up (obviously mindy is a white woman who adopted black kids. What I meant by that was that you could look at it that way OR just view this as a human being adopting another human being. Race is important but it’s not that important to the point where every comment points something black/white/interracial out. You don’t see race comments on her videos with her children who she gave birth to. See my point?) but I’m very happy that you know how to do paisleys hair, and also that you include natural styles for her in your videos. I’ve been a licensed cosmetologist for almost 3 years and most of the time white stylists don’t know how to do black hair. And won’t bother learning, i wish more people were inclusive but maybe they will be because they see you! Thank you mindy❤️

Wow. Such an educated and loving mother! Black hair isn’t easy for black moms to deal with but the level of comfort and knowledge this mom displays is incredible. Keep it up Mama this is so beautiful 😊😊😊
@ohglory39245 жыл бұрын
Its not about dealing with it, its because we put products in our hair that is bad for us and it gets damaged, we need to find what works for us but the products that work for us is expensive so we use the cheap one and expect our hair to be straight and not it natural way, we don't have to be styling our hair all the time sometimes just let it grow by its self. Its also because the culture of knowing how to take care of our hair was lost and but the world idolise is not hair like our so we try to get it to that way and not just let our hair be how it wants to be. Short, long, curly, kinky, just understanding that not all products it meant for your hair, that's why any hairdresser can do any hair a true one, because they let the hair be the hair.

@lienbijs12055 жыл бұрын
@@friedchickenwithextrafried4259 I hope you are from the USA, because her reply was confusing me so much that it even came in my mind every day since she wrote this. It gave me such a bad feeling like it is extra ordinary to know how to do the frizzy type hair from your child if you don't have that hair yourself. In my point of view it is just very normal to know and just part of the care for your child. It sounds in a way racistic towards white moms like she is pre occupied with the thought that just all the white people are racisist. I really started to wonder if American people are really so racistic that it is extra ordinairy to take care of the hair of your child with frizzy hair. If the father of the child is having frizzy hair, or if the child is adopted then you can get a child with another type of hair as you have, and you have to know how to care for it, simple as that. ( I had to search the english word for that hair, I hope the translation is right). Anyway, this stupid white and black crap in the USA has to stop. It is already bad enough that in the past people got enslaved from Africa and deported and even by law were discriminated in the USA, now it is time for everybody to think like civilized people. I live in the Netherlands, I am 50 and I still remember when our teacher told us when I was 11 about the racism in the USA. About black people had to sit behind in the bus, how the USA was by law racistic in the past. It gave me the same bad feeling as how during world war 2 jewish people were not allowed to enter the parc, cinema, and so on. I don't think that I would like to live in a country where the color of somebodies skin is still something important.

So happy to know her hair is natural. Too many parents put very dangerous and unnecessary chemicals on little girls hair. It boosts self esteem when you’re taught your hair is beautiful just the way it is.Wish my mother did the same when I was her age. Had to cut off and regrow my hair.

have you ever tried to straighten paisleys hair? i’d love to watch a video on how you did it!
@nesquick96815 жыл бұрын
Laney Mach Hope she doesn’t do it often. Heat is the number one mistake most black girls make.

She doesn’t need to. She knows how to stretch it without heat. Heat isn’t always good for our hair 😊it can cause major damage.

You should definitely try it on your hair. My hair seems more similar to your hair so I’d be interested in seeing how that works out

You should use a hair mouse next time instead of gel because there will be no flaking that way love your videos btw

I think starting on dry hair and swapping the gel for a styling pudding is your best bet but looks great 😊

i love how educated you are in her hair type!! i can tell that you took the time to learn.

My mother never took time to educate herself on my type of hair! It left me only being able to figure it out once I was 17/18 and the some what crisis it gives your identity as a black woman not to know anything about your hair. Your daughter is so so lucky and blessed to have a mother who educates herself on the hair and I'm sure her culture too. This is lovely. She will be so grateful when she is older. Youre doing an amazing job momma!
