Hi Poppy, Added on with comments of Allan Duncan and Brilliant - I would not put out any money to do any modifications to that Mazda E2000. It’s simply not worth it. Indeed the VW camper vans are made for long duration camper living. The most important things are number one a Toilet. Number two is a mini kitchen with the typical small stove, fridge and importantly a small sink to wash dishes and it doubles as your bathroom sink.

Dear Poppy, Check your van’s fluids (oil, coolant and transmission fluid), air filter and tire pressure, along with radiator hoses and fan belts for wear. You don’t have to be an expert. We love your determination to travel and see more of the world. At this time when fear, tension and distrust seem to fill our media, your travels and blogs provide hope and a reminder of who we all can be. Our world is much smaller and we are more connected than many think. Travel, meeting new cultures and learning from them are what builds peace and dialogue. Keep up your smiles and good work.

I saw this Van Life Tip that might help from a guy in New Zealand."I bought a $15 mosquito net from the Warehouse (NZ's ‘everything' store) and cut it to size to fit over one of my side windows and the back door. I used tape and glue (lots of it) to fix it in place. The side window is permanently covered, and the one at the back door can be pulled to the side when not needed. If I do want it in place, I use picks to attached it to the curtain on the other half of the door so it stays in place". Looks like fun.. Cheers

Hmm thinking you can add 1-4 of those new "Icewind mini turbine" for eternal electricity. Gain electricity while driving or parked. It will look weird on a van but continuous electricity is good for the long run.

Hey poppy, I have these 22 lb propane tanks best to make a habit and turn of the stave from the tan valve. Then the fire run out about 20 second later . As that hose wear out and leaks but the regulated. There are not made for Constance movement unless yo but the best ounces at a gasco place about 60 bucs but they sell that 20 buck the cheap one that leak. Cause a leak from the line or worst from the tank will go to the lowest spot that the engine at the bottom and when you start the van it go boom and you go flying. LOL In short the right way is cut holes in the floor so leaking gas can go down & out or turn of the gas at the tank valve.

This looks so cool! Your adventurous nature is so infectious! If I could give one piece of advice, I would have a mechanic go over the engine from top to bottom and look for any faults, because the last thing you want is some little gremlin spoiling the party! Also, I would try and install an auxiliary battery for a little extra juice, in addition to the solar panels that you plan to put in. But overall, this looks like a sweet ride!

Hi poppy, because a lot of university gives remote courses to international students so many Chinese students are moving back to China and they are giving away stuffs for free or sell in very cheap price as long as you can pick it up. You can find those info from an app called 今日澳洲 if you can read Chinese. Many stuffs are quite new which only used for a few months. Hopefully you can save your budget with this information.

The mice will keep coming through the engine of your van up into the passenger seat. Best to find closed lid containers or tupparware from kmart or something that an fit in your boxes so they cannot smell the food and so do not enter your van ... hopefully. You could also buy some steel wool and shove it in any holes you can find on the floor of your van in the driving seat area. Good luck with it. As is the case with most people who don't know a lot about the mechanics of a vehicle they buy by sight and if it runs they think they are okay....Sorry, there are many problems looming for someone who doesn't check under the hood, for example mileage has a lot to do with buying a vehicle. Too many miles can mean its not going to last long. It is always good to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic before you buy it so you know what you are getting yourself into. Engine, transmission, front and rear suspensions and steering mechanisms, brakes and rotors, muffler, not to mention all of the odds and ends of sensors, tune up features like plugs and electrical wires. Hopefully it will all work out all right for you and you haven't bought a lemon. On the other hand welcome to the school of hard knocks and what you learn from this vehicle will burn into your memory forever. I will pray a prayer for you now...Father in heaven bless this vehicle and let it be problem free and safe guard Poppy in her naivete we give you the thanks and praise in the name that is above every name...JESUS!
