What a great and refreshing attitude! When my kids were toddlers, in the 1990's, I found out the world (and especially child rearing) had changed dramatically. Suddenly, mediocrity and just going through the motions was being celebrated. Effort and achievement no longer mattered. In sports, for example, nobody even kept score. They were all "winners." My kids were NOT gifted athletes. But learning from our failures and seeing that success (in anything) requires commitment is a valuable life lesson! You should only expect unconditional love from your family. And not everyone even gets that. What a shock it must be for that generation when they realize the world is not just going to GIVE them whatever they want - a good job, money, a home,.....

My name is An and this is my story. The goal here is to motivate and inspire everyone reading this that there is a light at the end of the dark tunnel... as long as you are committed. . I am a first generation from Vietnam and came here in 92. I come from a broken family pre-determined before my family ever set foot in America. My mother is a narcissist and my father was an all-time alcoholic loser who beat myself and my brother. We had no guidance growing up, beat down mentally when we aspired to achieve great things... by the very people who were suppose to be our biggest supporters. Growing up being picked on because of my accent, not being from this country etc. We had 0 support from in the house and no support from the outside world. I remember til this day the morning when I knocked on my mothers bedroom door because I couldn't find my socks to wear and was worried that I would miss my bus (I was 8 years old). I remember til this very day... my mother swung her door open and smacked me right across my face so hard... leaving me standing there stunned, wondering what I did wrong to deserve that. I missed the bus and was too afraid to ask my mother to take me to school, so I walked to my school that took me 2 hours at 8 years old. An 8 year old; from another country, trying to figure out this new world I'm in. I was stomped in by my own mother because I wanted to go to the mall with my mother and brother and made a fuss, I remember she stood over me and stomped my face in when I was 11. I was a complete lost child; an imposter because I didn't have anybody to actually look up to, I was just mimicking everyone around me and my environment was a bad one. I was sexually molested on more than one occasion and not even my mother believed me. I grew up broken, never graduated 8th grade and served 5 years in prison because of my dumb mistakes early on in my life. . I finally had enough and took a drastic change for myself when I was at complete rock bottom. I had completely let go of that fragile child that was broken. I took full responsibility for everything in my life. I never gave another person the power over myself by completely relying on myself to achieve everything that I want for myself. I devoted to completely becoming the person I want to be. I went from wasting time and hanging out; watching tv, playing video games. I devoted to reading, earning and growing. I began to invest in myself... COMPLETELY. It was hard to change old habits and adapt myself to new habits that would benefit me rather than not. It was hard, scary and lonely, but it was a lot harder continuing on with my current situation. I gained confidence in myself that I NEVER had. I learned about money, devoted myself to becoming a person of value rather than chasing the next check. I read books, listened to podcasts and motivational videos to help me through the process. I GREW, learned about taxes and the incentives that the government gave to those who sought the knowledge. Learned about raising private money and creating lucrative deals that. . I went from being a loser that was barely scraping 2k a month to now making 100k annually and I aim to make 100k a month, not for the money, but to become the person that's required to achieve such a feat. I am OBSESSED WITH LEARNING AND GROWING! . I share this with everyone to show that there is a possibility to be where you want to be, no matter where you come from. It starts with YOU and realizing no one is to blame for the current situation that you're in right now. Learn to be self reliant and take FULL RESPONSIBILITY for yourself. Invest in yourself and learn the skills that's necessary for your growth. Don't just seek another job, but rather what that job will do for your growth in the desired areas that you're looking to grow. If there's one skills that I can't stress enough with anyone is the ability to convey yourself to others your desires. Learn to effectively communicate with others. . My name is An Vu and this is my story.

I didn’t have a father , he died in combat, he is a disavowed star on a wall that they won’t acknowledge . Everything they put into him is in me, untempered raw and volatile. Untrained . Always felt anger and rage and judged by society to lay on a yoga mat. Some of us were bred for destruction, and the vine we fell off was co opted and clipped by an industry that values secrecy above all else. But sons needs fathers, mentors , and leaders. The words moved the child out of my mind . Echoed and resonated through men like David.

David I use your voice and your outlook on life every single day for the past 15 months. Because of your story I have found my inner DRIVE! I hear your voice ever time I start to say take the day off or start to hurt! Now I’m down 60 lbs got a new job and I’m taking my life back! THANK YOU FOR THE INSPIRATION to be a better ME!

That’s so true I love this video because I was going to give up on my career of nursing because I don’t have the cash to finish up the courses but I believe that God will see me through and I’ll achieve my goals of nursing.. and going to do it for my son Justin ..

I got hit with covid 19 3 times. I'm watching this, lifting weights, trying to run. Heart beat out of control, breathing out of control, and still very fucking motivated, still trying, still running, and who fucking knows! Might join the military once I'm back at 100%
