If you try this mod, then please let me know your results. I'm very interested to know if the impact is as noticeable on other's systems who play the game in VR on PC. Also, for reference, my PC specs are in the description to this video. My in-game settings are generally on standard, except textures (high), reflections, water, terrain tesselation, planet detail and base complexity (all on enhanced).

I don't understand it. I have the same CPU as you, yet I have a utilization of about 70-90%. I have unlocked all cores and threads, but my game runs so poorly. I have a 3080 Ti, 32 GB RAM, M.2 SSD, Ryzen 7 5800X, but I only get 40 FPS on medium settings.
@splitenz1770Ай бұрын
This is brilliant, its gone from a stuttering mess to steady 120fps at enhanced resolution. Thanks for the video.

Wow this is incredible. I was completely unable to play NMS on my index and swore off the game until this was fixed in some fashion. Its a shame that HG barely even acknowledges how poor the PCVR experience is. Kudos to the modder and you for showcasing it! Definitely subbing
@XTac0Munch3rXАй бұрын
You earned my sub good sir, I didn’t even know how well no man’s sky supports mods. Just sent me down a rabbit hole finding some awesome mods lmao thank you Really gonna help me get better performance when recording so now I can lean into making more no man’s sky content, thanks again man

I'd been speaking to folks that referenced some of NMS performance issues were due to heavy compression to make it efficient, but it trades taking up less space at the cost of some performance, but word is that if you could decompress the files, the performance would be drastically better. I hadn't tested it though, but this video does make me more curious about it.
@ImmersedRobotАй бұрын
For me, it's made all the difference in VR. I'd love some feedback on if it improves performance for you too. I suspect it would help a lot people get a more consistent framerate, but I can only go on my own experience right now.

That's really cool. Might have to give NMS another go now.

Now if the mods for getting rid of warp lines and to make space actually black still work, I’d be very tempted to play again in VR.
@argophontesАй бұрын
I've always played through Steam Link without any issues, but I'm saving this in case it starts to be squirrelly, thank you
@CulkyАй бұрын
Going to try this shortly, but given that the uncompressed install is still relatively modest (by modern standards) HG should really consider this being the standard mode for the PC
@ImmersedRobotАй бұрын
I agree with that. I think it would be a good idea for Hello Games to at least add the extra uncompressed install as an option for those who prioritise performance over a small installation.

No Man's Sky is already huge but the stutter and performance in VR has been a tack in my foot for two years now. If I got the GB space left I'll definitely be trying this tomorrow. AMD Ryzen 7 5800 8-core processor Nvidia GeoForce Rtx 3060ti 16 GB Ram 512 GB SSD Quest 2 5 ghz WiFi Virtual Desktop

How did it work?

Well, I came back for the redux. I did half with it unpacked and half back to generated on the fly. Honestly, I didn't see too much improvement but it's hard to tell with the Expeditions because there are other bugs to contend with. So I just don't know what benefits in total it offered.
@LezMarwickАй бұрын
I may have to give this a go sometime. I used to have No Man's Sky running really smoothly (apart from planet exits) on my old 1080ti and Valve Index years ago and I played many hours. I had a brilliant mod from Nexus - I think it was called anti-bloom? that made the graphics look so much better in VR. When I tried to return to No Man's Sky after switching my PCVR to a Quest 3 I just couln't get it running properly. I recently bought a 4070ti expecting better results but it still hasn't been playable. I'd love to get playing it again as there have been countless updates since I last played.
@ImmersedRobotАй бұрын
I played it originally on my 1080ti as well, but the problem with the game is that it continually has had various updates over the years. Some slightly improve performance, but a vast majority generally seem to make performance gradually worse. I can't imagine trying to run it on a 1080Ti now. I'd urge you to give this mod a try if you have the game installed on a fast SSD/NVME drive. As I mention in the video, your mileage may vary on the results, but it's made a huge difference for me.

Thanks for this, will let you know how this mod goes for me Specs: Pico 4 wired (Pico connect) High res 150 bitrate 16gb ram Ryzen 5 5600x Rtx 3070 Nvme gen 3 drive Update: just tried it, no fps increase but DEFINITELY a lot smoother, makes it way more playable thanks a lot Fps average is 70fps on standard/enhanced settings
@ImmersedRobotАй бұрын
This is my experience exactly. I think rather than an overall fps improvement, the mod offers more consistency, and that was the main issue with playing it in VR for me.

NMS look great and runs really well on my 4090. I'm curious how much better it is with the mod you suggest. But the game is so big and confusing to me that I get lost and make no progress.
@ImmersedRobotАй бұрын
They've added a lot over the years, so I sometimes forget how confusing it might be for new players. The general advice is to follow the path of the story it gives you at the beginning as that will basically guide you through everything. It's a very grindy game for the first few hours, but that changes as you start to build yourself up.

@@ImmersedRobot That works for the first few hours until you get to the artemis path then it gets confusing again due to parrallel story paths

What headset are you using? If Quest 3, what method of connection? What resolution/refresh rate are you running at? My in game settings are generally pretty on ‘standard’ apart from textures, water and planet detail. I also enable DLSS.

nms badly optimized for CPU so had stopped playing it last year.

You're a youtuber and you didn't try/review a mod on the basis of skepticism? Isn't that your reason of being, to show the people. It's been 1/4th of a year since its last update and you could have been on it early, instead you wait for god knows why, blissfully ignorant. I think it's safe to say you will never reach any play button. And after saying all of that, I've clicked on your channel and saw you're much older than my initial guess of early 20s and you haven't been active so now I feel like a complete jackass. I will be keeping the nasty part as to spite myself, and blush like an idiot clicking send whilst minimally standing my my first statement. In line with my first comments, this could have come sooner or the comeback video could have been more eventful. Although a nice view count for the first day comeback, I don't see this hitting hard, but quite resourceful. I'd personally go for explaining the downsides before or in the middle of explaining the mod, much more digestible or easy to understand what you need instead of waiting or timeline surfing. Either way welcome back, it's nice to see someone who has/had put in the work for a passion, especially nowadays. Edit: I'm actually installing this because of you, again, sorry for being so brunt in the beginning, I just got out of a decade relationship and the evils of Lucy was all around me.

Yeah, I'm not really a KZbinr. I'm a VR gamer who occasionally posts videos when there is something I find interesting. That elusive Play button can remain elusive for as long as I'm drawing breath as far as I'm concerned. :D
