I dont think that is possible in lore. Since the main reason everyone lives in space is because the space hippies (sentinels) will harass and raid any planetary settlement. Doesnt mean settlements are nonexistent, as you can find and control one

Ever since I've gotten into NMS in 2020 I kept saying how the standing mechanic was completely pointless and disconnected from actual gameplay. I'm so happy it finally has a good purpose. Frigate missions are no longer 100% passive, trading now has a fun minigame, and various other little things are just a little more deeper. I love how they've been much more focused on deepening the existing gameplay and features instead of just adding shallow stuff. Can't wait to see what else they have for us!

Yolo Nolo They've come a long way since launch, when you needed to find ships just to increase storage by 1, until you hit 48. Then classes where added, meaning 3 hours of reloading for an S-Class. I was very thankful when Class and Storage modifications were added. Now here we are just straight up building custom ships. Obviously it's not to the level of Starfield, but at least in NMS, your ship is more than a glorified loadscreen. The new stations look awesome, it really shows how much Sean & HG love the universe they created, and the players that inhabit it. How do these guys not win the "Best Community Support" award every year? Imagine if all companies were this way.

Funniest part about Starfield is the way the enemy targeting AI works by targeting the center of your ship, so if you build your ship to be a hollow cube taking up the outer edges of the buildable area, you'll basically never be hit.

Yeah, honestly planets sorely need an overhaul at this point. Origins was a good step in the right direction, but we need a massive list of fauna, flora, and minerals the game can pull from at least so it doesnt feel so samey after awhile. Granted yeah a player with 500 hours across two platforms, bound to start seeing repetition eventually, but Hello Games can certainly do more. I'm sure they'll get around to it someday.

I own this game but I havent got around to playing it significantly yet. What I would really like is RPG elements.. though im not sure what that would mean in a sandbox game. I dont mean some overblown story where I am the chosen one. It is more about having a character concept and a character arc, and the game shaping itself in some meaningful way in response to that. It is possible some of this emerges later. I did only play a bit. In the bit I did play there was no real character creation stage. Only cosmetic changes to your avatar that you can eventually discover how to apply at a station.

though i do very much agree that this game needs a good amount of rpg elements (more than what it has already), it still does have a quest line to follow. multiple of them actually. it gets presented through the missions menu and it follows a very simple narrative of chasing behind the memories of another explorer. also, there's a shit ton of side quests too AND DLC quests too, you can sink in hours on completing them or just get lost midway due to a pirate attack or other such things. it's quite fun when you want to just unwind and take things slow.

Multitool combat feels so clunky and recoil of boltcasters is near uncontrollable. I guess its fair to say that the devs made an exploration game, not an FPS, but fighting sentinels and wildlife would be so much more fun if there was an overhaul to on foot combat and the first person view in general

I totally agree, the planets were so freaking boring. Honestly the thing that would make them cool would just be adding more diversity on each planet, right now on even the most diverse planets there is only a total of not even 10 species of fauna and flora COMBINED. Which makes the entire planet look the exact same in the first 200 square meters you explore. ALSO the fauna is so not denae that it makes every planet look like a receding hairline when they do have trees and stuff. I want to see MASSIVE and beautifully sprawling tropical Forest, it would make it actually feel alive and well. If they add those 2 things in the game I couldn't stop exploring a single planet let alone the trillions of them that exist.

Unpopular opinion but I want the ability to take off your space outfit when in your station. Bonus if they add oxygen tanks in the station. Leaks or attacks could destroy the tanks or lower oxygen inside. It’s the small details sometimes.

Excellent stuff, but I really would like more intricate missions or new stories. No Man's Sky is vast, but the gameplay consists of fetch quests and survival with base building. The lack of a deeper narrative was my main problem back in 2016. The interface and the visuals were not that great, but they were serviceable with mods back then. Good that those aspects are better now, but a compelling story is missing to this day.

the game is missing the seriousness aspect. there is nothing lose and there is no real threats so once you play and experience everything it gets boring. they need some sort of pvp or some serious aspect that will make it harder and difficult

I've had this game for years, but it never really clicked. However, I've put in 20+ hours in just the last week and I'm loving it. In a world where gameplay means pewpew pvp endgame loop to most people, the idea of just exploring and slowing down seems like a lost concept to some. Ps. I didn't even get to stations before so I need to visit the older abandoned ones to get more appreciation out of the difference now. 😂

I've stopped following no mans sky news because I thought they would only focus on small updates no one cares about, man i was so wrong. Now there's only three things to make this game perfect for me. One ground combat overall: I know it's not the idea of the game, but hey, they made this with space combat, only having more enemy types and a better gameplay, and it would be enough for me. Two Dungeons update. Like the abandoned frigates, but having not only in space, but on the ground and underwater, each one of them with unique procedural mechanics, puzzles, stories and even bosses. Three Planets variation (of course): Now for me the variation is on a good state right now, but of course, it could be better (if you see mods, you know what i mean). Let's get wilder and crazier, having even square and flat planets, just imagine!!! But for real, this wouldn't hurt. Extra: Racing update. Now this is more of a dream, but it would be so cool to have racing in the game, it could be with any vehicle and spaceship, you can create your on tracks, and even have a class of combat cars, with guns to make these races more thrilling.

Ngl, no it's not. While the game has been updated and is in a much better place than it was on lauch, it's still as wide as the ocean but as deep as a puddle, and what i mean by that is that the core gameplay is NOT good or fun and the world is not even slightly interactive, for example, you may see a titan worm emerging from the ground while on planets, and you may feel in danger just by being close to the thing, but no, the worm cant attack you neither can you attack him, so it's just a senseless decoration. (a VERY recurring theme in the game) so in conclusion it may look pretty but that's literally about it.

Quick question. I used to play nms a few years ago, after NEXT came out on console. I really like the game, ever since i pre ordered it way back. But what threw me off was the fact, that you had a cooldown on unlocking parts for base building. did i do sth wrong back then? or did they fix it? also, is it worthwhile longterm? im thinking of buying it again when its on sale :)

The cooldown was for getting free parts from the base computer, but there was always ways of unlocking more with buried tech modules! To be honest when it’s on sale it’s 100% worth it the game is so much better now than it was during NEXT

Procedural space stations is a bit underwhelming tbh. More like procedural objects and colours in the newly designed stations. I'm glad they got a revamp but they all look more or less the same tbh. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Waiting for them to reintroduce removed basebuilding pieces. Stopped playing seriously after 1.5 dropped and made my 1.3 house impossible, and now I can't even have cozy (non-industrial) freightliner interiors without a legacy save! Hello Games do that Nintendo "thing" where they move 20 steps ahead and 5 steps backwards for no reason. It leaves me happy for everyone who enjoys returning to the game or starting new, but nonetheless confused over some of their decisions. @~@
