No Man's Sky Speedrun - Galaxy Center / Permadeath / Glitchless

Bit rough as I'ts only my 3rd run using the new strats on a new version having not played for the last 6 months but overall pretty good attempt. Plenty of room for improvement!

I guess its time for me to revisit this run and give it another shot with the new update. Honestly shocked this video got as much traffic as it did with only the few of us trying to beat the permadeath mode glitchless. I know there were a lot of things in the run that are questionable and while I didn't upload it, I did shave a few minutes off on a different take but the video didn't record correctly. Thanks for all the interest in the topic everyone, happy I could help some people!

@@IamRelayy Looks like luck indeed will be needed! I have done a few runs and wow, it is way harder this update. With the increased damage, less resource purchase options and starship ground fire farming being nerfed to the ground (pun intented) it is a lot harder to achieve similar times but I believe it is still possible. I have already done a 1:39 with sub optimal luck so its only a matter of time until the stars align :)

You can speed up every single rusted container and crashed tech - when you remove the item from the container, right-click to get out of the menu and hold E to get the reward instead.

Wow this was fast, but you were really going for the record. I did it in 2 hours and a bit. But was lucky, found 2 s class warp drive upgrades, finished the starting campaign, bought the 3rd s class warp drive from the station, randomly found a glyph grave, found portal warped to bird x 16 address and from there i had 5 warps to center, spent a lot trying to jump through.

Tried this a bit ago. Maybe it works with the rockets, but did not work for me using photon cannons. Edit: And after rewatching that I don't think it was worth the time anyway. Using the multitool to take out a few of those trees would've taken half the time and probably got double the carbon.

@@LabGecko get the positron ejector and have it in a supercharged slot with at least a couple A tier upgrades and you can 2 shot basically any group of trees. I can get full stack of oxygen in 10 minutes of flying around shooting trees and also all the di hydrogen that also gets hit maybe around 2k per full stack of oxygen. And 10+ stacks of carbon

@@LabGecko actually it used to be the case that the photon cannons were enough but with updates changing the behavior it seems much much less efficient now, this is going to be one struggle in newer runs.

A challenge would be cool speedrunning to the center by not using portals. Starting a new PD game and aquiring a good ship as soon as possible and warp your way. Has anyone done this yet?

I thought about doing this and then i realized i was about 780k lightyears from center of galaxy and with three S class hyperdrive upgrades you jump almost 900 lightyears so...portal it is

It's a movement technique that has been in game since launch, for a more consistent trick of using it Try saying "exo" Melee on the 'Ex' and initiate boost on the 'O'. It's just a 1->2 rhythm you'll get used to

Not sure what the requirements for that are I am afraid. I would think that the general mechanics work in similar ways so getting a glyph is still probably the fastest way to shortcut to the galactic core.

You do not require all the glyphs to be able to activate the portal. As long as you the first one, you can enter an incorrect address and it plops you out at the nearest correct address which is close to the core

Is this still possible today? when i use the portal , im stuck in that system as all jumps require emeril drive. Emril requires> indium drive can only be unlocked with anomaly. Is there a workaround?

It is still possible, you need to find a different entry point to the galactic core than the one the computer suggests, try jumping 2-3 times far away from the entry point but close to the galactic core so it recalculates the best route and it might give you a system you can actually enter. One of the big run killing factors it seems.
