cool to actually see the FOVated Rendering effect (where the areas your not directly looking at are intentionally low fidelity for performance) in your footage. Its a shame the PC VR experience of NMS doesn't come close to the game running on Sonys platform (NMS has always ran best on playstation for me personally)
@TieDyeShyGuy Жыл бұрын
The FOV in foveated rendering has nothing to do with Field of Vision, it’s part of the word fovea, the small pit in your eye where your vision is the clearest. Peripheral vision is also part of your FOV, and has nothing to do with your fovea.

Didn’t know what FOVated rendering meant until I read your comment. Such a genius concept, an almost obvious performance buffer and such a simplistically perfect idea

I'm sure a lot of the reason that NMS has always performed better on PS is the fact that it was meant as a PS exclusive during the entirety of its development up until after it released

Yes No Mans Sky is such a beautiful game now on the PSVR2, I knew that Hello Games would deliver the definitive version of No Mans Sky on the PSVR2, it looked pretty bad in February but I could see that they had not turned on all of the PSVR2 technology, they seemed to be just feeling their way through the new tech with minor updates until it was time to unleash the Kraken, and the moment they optimised the game for the new tech it just transformed NMS into a system selling VR game it just looks and plays better than high end pcvr now and really shows what the PSVR2 is really capable of, I too do not see screen mura in NMS the devs have just wrote it out of the game completely.

I wish PSVR 2 games had an option for locked 80hz, rather than 60fps with reprojection to 120. Main issue I had when I bought PSVR2 was the intense blur when using smooth locomotion. If it wasn't for that then I could have overlooked a lot of other issues but I couldn't stand it and returned both. Going from gaming on my 4090 pc with very high super sampling and the FPS locked at the native refresh of the headset, PSVR 2 was nauseating for me. I REALLY hope the PS5 Pro comes out next year and can handle VR games at native 120hz. If they did, I'd buy it and a PSVR2 again in a heartbeat.... well and provided they release some decent exclusives on it anyway.

When the day came when it all arrived, I was like a kid at christmas but I ended up being very disappointed by the experience in a lot of ways. I maybe had too high an expectation but there were too many issues that I couldn't get over, especially given the £1k in hardware to play it. Maybe I was just spoiled with high end PCVR but still, the specs of the PSVR2 just sounded incredible. I just don't think the PS5 is powerful enought to take advantage of the hardware. PS5 can't even play a lot of AAA games in 4k at above 30fps so having a VR headset that is 4k at 120hz was always going to be a massive uphill battle.
