His conditional letter of intent for the 119th Congrssional seat is not the same as officially turning down the position. In this case, KREM 2 News was incorrect.

The person who made the allegation had ulterior motives and had been found guilty of the exact same false allegation against someone else. 2. After 3 years of FBI investigation the case was dropped due to lack of evidence. 3. Despite 3 years of investigating, the supposed victim was never found to exist. 3. It never reached the point of pressing charges, much less a legal case. 4. The media can't do any better than say "Allegations", because that's all it was. An allegation is just a person claiming someone did something. Anyone can make an allegation against anyone else at any time. Amber Heard made allegations against Johnny Depp and the media ate it up for the ratings. Later it was proven in court to be untrue. This case wasn't even good enough for charges to be pressed. That press release was going to come out whether he resigned or not.
