I got my diagnosis a year ago. Can you believe it’s been a year? Even though my treatment has been super easy and I haven’t felt sick, my mojo just completely abandoned me! As you know, I just started a new Journal and that has me super excited! I get my mojo boost from watching your videos. I’ve even gone back to some of your older videos because I remember you doing something that I wanted to try! So that’s where I get myself motivated. From you. Thank you for having all of your new and old videos available to us!!♥️♥️♥️

Awesome project! I would never have known you were struggling with your mojo if you hadn’t said so. There is so much pressure on those of you with KZbin channels to keep producing to keep us happy. I feel bad about it. So sorry for the pressure, but I love watching you work.

I totally agree, I think we go through cycles of creativity. And remember, you just recently finished a HUGE creative project with planning and creating for Dephemerember, so it's not surprising your feeling the downswing after all that hard work!! For me it helps just moving my hands and doing something - no pressure things like making backgrounds or just fussy cutting images. Sometimes just following someone's tutorial or class helps - I can follow along and not think too much beyond choosing colors and picking out the supplies. I find when I start overthinking things and putting pressure on myself it makes it worse.

I love that you say you want to keep your channel authentic. That is so important. And yes, we all have periods like this. I know by now that my flow will return, I trust that. And that feels so good. What helps me is cleaning my craft table or craft room and discovering things I forgot I had. Or looking through an inspiring craft book or magazine. Without the pressure of having to create something. That usually gets my flow going again.✨💕

This is what happened to me. I took a piece of brown Amazon paper …got some scraps and little ephemera pieces…grabbed a glue stick ,stencils, texture paste and spray inks…then I sat down and made a huge collage board. I was so excited by the end I started grabbing papers and ended up making a whole journal. It might be worth a try?? ❤

No giggles this video. You must really be going through it. Everything is temporary, that's what I keep reminding myself. Hugs from the coast of Maine in the US. I have been sitting for weeks with no Mojo. Injury and other parts of life are draining it. I totally helped to come here and see you push through it to make something lovely. You have been my favorite artist since I found your channel a few years ago, and remain so until now. We all love you and your art girl! 😍😘😘

Love the bag!!!!! The quote is precisely what you must do!!! But how do you do it?? Start by smiling. Specially in the mirror, in the supermarket, smile and people will smile back. A smile is a silent way too greet unknown people. Say hello to the cashiers and look them in the eyes. you will be amazed how they love your kindness. Next time they will recognising you and talk too you. On KZbin you play a huge part in all your followers life. The small seed you have planted become a big harvest. Smile😊 ❤❤❤❤

No craft mojo for me is: sometimes I'll watch a movie while sitting in my craftroom, with some nice nettle tea and something to eat. Or I'll be in my craftroom and cleaning something. Often when I'm in my craftroom, my craft mojo returns.

When I need something easy and a low emotional investment I make scrap masterboards. I like to line up all my trimmer strips on a piece of cardstock. Eventually I use them for tag backgrounds, booklet covers, etc. Just spending time glueing paper down can be very satisfying.

I've learned to overcome these situations by trying something new. I have always had many hobbies, drawing, painting, making jewellery, journaling in various ways, so I can always come back to one of these crafts and I feel there's always something I can do. A little while ago, I had made and sold a couple of journals and usually after that I feel like I want to take the time to work in my own journals, so that's what I did, but I lacked a bit of inspiration. So I watched some art-journaling and creative journaling video's, and I came across a few artists who do abstract painting and grid journaling... and then BOOM🤯💥, I just really felt the urge to try that. And so I did. And now, a few weeks later, I did a LOT of pages in my art journal and I love it! It's a complete new thing for me, abstract painting/journaling, but it's so much fun. Every time this happens to me, I feel like it's another step in my development, and I'm learning new things. And I know, after this, I will probably get back to my family heirloom junk journal, or my ready made journal for spring, or even work in all of my journals for a period of time. So, trying something new really works for me. I hope you find your mojo again soon Barbara!

Oo what is grid journalling??? I’m like you, I love trying new things. I always felt like I didn’t have a style of my own, but then I realised that my style is “eclectic/variety” 🤷‍♀️ I can’t think of anything worse than finding one particular look/medium & just recreating that over & over (even though there are many artists who are happy & successful with that). I love trying collage, watercolour, Brushos, alcohol ink, acrylic painting, beading, polymer clay, junk journalling, digital art, Gelli printing & I’m starting encaustic painting when the weather cools down. Anything & everything in other words lol.

It can take your mind off most things and for me it gives me time to "reset", play without thinking about anything except what I'm doing, and "leave everything else behind. If I can be "in the moment", I gain a new perspective on life and that works for me. I'm 72, had 4 surgeries (hip replacement and 3 spinal surgeries) in 5 years and it has taken me much longer to recover my mobility than in previous years. I'm getting there but I'm not very patient and crafting has definitely helped me. ❤‍🩹❤🙏

I’m working on a big project (restoring a dolls house) but occasionally I need a break or find myself waiting for something to dry. I have a vintage Rolodex that is one big art journal. It has all manner of strange things in it. Cute, funny, pretty, meaningful and even quite dark. Every card is its own world, it’s own part of my mind. They are small so they are never overwhelming. Tags are the same idea, really. If I’m less motivated than that, I tidy the room and that usually makes me remember supplies or techniques and stop tidying to do something. Or I make myself some backgrounds it embellishments because that isn’t much commitment and I can slip into what I call factory mode.

So sad for you. You must be having such a hard time. I hope you’ve got some good support from family & friends. Just remember that lack of energy, anger, tears & pretty much anything during grieving is absolutely normal & everyone’s journey & time to recovery is different. And if family/friends aren’t giving you the support you need because they’re too close to you or want to rush you through, talk to external help. It can make a world of difference having someone objective who is just there purely for you so you can be 100% open & honest about your feelings & thoughts without having to edit them to protect or not worry your loved ones! Making a journal of memories of & with him sounds beautiful. Big hugs to you from Australia 🤗 💕

When I want to be creative but lack the inspiration, I make a point of going through past projects I've put into my journals, I look at my scraps (and I always find something I'd forgotten about that didn't hit me 6 months ago but all of a sudden does now), and I go through my rubber stamps. One or more never fails to give me an idea.

Great project! The only thing missing was your beautiful gold splatters, just kidding. Yes, I think playing with my supplies is a great way to get my creativity back. Sometimes I take a few days to line some supplies up on my desk and just have fun putting it all together. My problem right now is that I have just finished a journal and don't really have a journal to work in, so----I need to line up some stuff for making a journal. The last one was so easy because I was so taken with the color yellow. You know, it just grabbed me after such a long, dreary winter. I know that time change and season change have an effect on my energy level. I just have to trust that it will return.

No idea what is going on in your world but you need a mental vacation! The time and opportunity where you do not have to think, or create. And even though you are so inspiring, and make beautiful things like this, it can wear you down. My doctor told me to think about it as a battery and I only have so much energy every day. So be careful what you do with that energy. Make sure you include thinking as an energy drain. It has the same type of drain on your body. Even small things like filling out a form. So I am now trying to track and preserve my energy. But I’m old! 😂 And you are not. 💃🏽Anyway, this so cute and I do hope you can get some well needed and well deserved rest! Hugs 🤗❤️😘

From what i have seen in your videos i’m guessing that your mind is probably always on and in a creative state, even if your hands don’t execute it. So be kind to yourself and take time to wonder and ponder. We’ll still be here!💖🍀

Sadly, I don’t feel like I’ve lost my mojo, I never seem to have found it in the first place. I have a great craft space. I have tons of supplies. I watch videos (especially yours!) for inspiration, but when I sit down to craft I just get overwhelmed. It’s like every idea escapes my head, and then when I do a spread it looks terrible. I get so discouraged. I know it’s not about perfection, but I’m starting to wonder if junk journaling is just not for me.

Hi! I went through the same situation. It occurred to me once, to choose only 6 elements of the tons of materials I've got, and do something with only 6 items. Believe me, it worked. Having so much staff and looking at it was what overwhelmed me, and couldn't create, or even copy something. Give it a try and see if it works for you too. Good luck!!!!

I felt like you. I have a lot of things, and nothing went out of my head. I decided to try in this way : Decide a theme, decide what you prefer to create - a jj, some cards, a folio, ecc…- grab a few things from your supplies related to your chosen topic ( in my case I choose the theme, spring and flowers. I wanted to create a folder with the envelopes .l choose the kit , some stamps ( 2or 3 pieces) and the ink… ( also few colors) and I started) and get started, you'll see it will work. When we have too many supplies and things it becomes difficult to concentrate and decide, we have just confusion on the head. With few things is easier because you just focus on that. Try, and courage. ❤💪🏻❤️

Dear Suzy, I’m so many of us can relate to the overwhelm when it comes to crafting and craft supplies. Try limiting your supplies and create something with that, something small like a tag or a journaling card. Please don’t give up! You are not alone! ♥️

Please don’t give up, I felt like you, I was so upset when I saw everyone else making beautiful things and my own art looked like a 3 year old had done it, I was so close to selling everything and I decided I wanted to try a class , I was amazed it actually worked, working in a group with other people gave me so much inspiration, we bounced off each others energy and I finally made something I was proud of, start slowly and never give up, there’s so many ladies in our group that feel like you and they are growing together in confidence and learning about different techniques etc please don’t stop you will get there I promise ❤

Wow! Simple and yet not boring! Your eye for added touches is great!TFS!❤ I like to paint or stamp collage fodder when I have zero ideas. Sometimes I get a piece of junk...like this bag...that makes me want to play. I love adding color to the inside of security envelopes if the pattern is cool.

Missing mojo is so frustrating! I have a list of basic things like master boards and fussy cutting (Tina did a good series) but personally if nothing else works then old fashioned manual labour is good 😄. I start a big tidy or sort out and my brain starts working without me getting in the way🙊. That's pretty fabric! Noooo my 'healthy' chocolate😱. Cute envelope 😍. Great way to get back mojo, in mourning for my chocolate though lol. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖

If you’re a writer it’s called “writers block” sometimes I have it happen to me with my knitting, I have all the supplies but no mojo. I tend to think and try to hard, I do better to take a step back and maybe organize and look through previous projects. It is reassuring to know that all of us suffer with it occasionally. Thanks for sharing your story Barbara. And it doesn’t help when situations in our daily life pop up

Looking for something to watch on TV tonight. So what in the world should I see? Yep, a video telling me how to get my mojo back. I ended up in the hospital this morning. I have a UTI. Then to top that off. My surgeon wanted to see my lump and my Lymph Node. So on Thursday we did a mammogram and an ultrasound. My lymph node doubled in size. Went from .04cm to a .08cm. My lump is bigger too. So tomorrow I have a Zoom meeting. She will let us know what she wants to do. But surgery is for sure in my future. It’s ok though. We can get busy healing now. ♥️♥️♥️

When I think I have lost my creative self I look through my old journals, and my current one, to read what themes have been going on for me. Often I go for a walk around the little lake and park near me and all sorts of thought arise which I record on my phone as I walk. I read my poetry and other favourite poems or I might take the words or title from a favourite song and by then the ideas are flowing. At other times I will doodle, or create pages for a future journal by drawing borders on them. Today I made snippet rolls from paper and fabric which I have rolled onto sticks similiar to yours. I loved that idea of yours and have used it. I have feathers coloured thread whipped around the stick and have also made a circle of gemstone beads which I have glued around the feathers. Today I made some tabs like Luise' s using the vintage strip photos and having made them I began thinking how some of the photos looked like my 1950s childhood photos. So now I am sorting through these tiny box brownie photos and scanning them to use in my journals. I dont think you ever lose that creative self its just that your outer life distracts us. From the creative self's point of view it is you that have wandered off and got lost. Arohanui from me in Aotearoa New Zealand ❤❤❤

It seems my mojo hits me before bedtime. During the day I’m taking care of my husband. He doesn’t demand all my attention, but lately my creative brain only wakes up late at night. You get what you get, when you get it.

When I feel like that, I will limit my supplies, usually by just choosing one item that's "sparking joy," as they say, then finding only 4 or 5 other things that coordinate. I also limit the size to something index card size or smaller. And then I just remind myself that the process is more important than the finished project, and if I don't like what I make it doesn't matter, because I can put it aside to be changed later or even just throw it away some day. That's not a waste because, again, the act of making something was where I got my "value" out of the items. 😊

Huge warm hugs Barbara. Mojo sometimes just needs a recharge. If we are struggling to find energy just for life, it’s no surprise it’s hard to find it for creating. I find that going for a meander around town browsing without buying or being out in nature helps with my mojo. I see patterns & colours on buildings, signage etc that I take photos of & get inspired to incorporate them into some artwork. Or I find colours & shapes in leaves, flowers, grasses etc that inspire me. And I collect leaves & flowers like you do, to use in dry eco printing (just running it through my Bigshot die cutter in folded paper which creates the most beautiful patterns & colours without all the mess & unpredictability of steaming/boiling. Did I learn that from you or Luise? 🤔), plus feathers, seeds, pods etc to put in little windows in embellishments. And I browsed the Op Shop yesterday for some cheap jewellery & puzzle pieces to use as Gelli printing material. I saw a cool video on the Gelli printing channel creating a cool embellishment from Gelli printing an earring. I also love browsing Pinterest for ideas. I always find stuff that gets my creative brain ticking. And of course, I watch videos from my favourite creators like you, Luise, the Creative Cove, Froyle Gelli printing & gazillions more. My issue is getting from the 10 billion things I want to do, to actually having the energy & motivation to sit down & do them🤦‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ It’s stupid, because I love creating. I know I love creating. But getting to my desk to start creating is a mission, even though it’s the next room 🫣 But, I just have to keep forcing myself to go & spend a few minutes there & then hours will usually fly happily by before I know it.
