In my first year of teaching 7th grade 25 years ago, I had 2 girls in my class find out they had the same daddy at Back-to- School Night! The girls were the same age, too! Talk about the shock these young girls felt! The dad looked surprised and embarrassed. It was so uncomfortable because the dad was there, but he was involved in the life of one of his daughters and not so much involved in the other daughter's life. It was one heck of a school year for these two 12-year-old girls. They eventually became friends. Sad they had to meet this way.
