YaY a video on watering! I agree, I like my emitters on top of the mulch. Every Time I turn it on, I go look and make sure each plant is getting watered. Today I turned on the drip irrigation to one of my raised beds and one of my emitters was not working. And it was going to a very important clematis! 😱 it's all good now 😊. Thanks for the video! It was very much needed. It hasn't rained here for many weeks in southeast Tennessee either. I like to watch the birds when I'm running the drip. It makes them happy too.

You make my day, 😂! So funny. I set drip up this Spring & it’s a game changer! My garden is producing more food than I ever thought it could, hydrangeas are blooming like crazy, all around awesomeness! I’ve only been gardening for 3 yrs now, If I could do it anyone can. You can’t mess it up, it’s like Lego’s, there’s countless ways to connect parts & move water any direction! One tip, set your tubing outside in the sun an hour or a day or so before you start playing with it, especially the 1/4” that’s more rigid. Makes that 1/4” wiggle & twist on easier because it gets more flexible from that sun/heat. I used DIG system from Home Depot, they are the same set up as Rain bird & Orbit. I kept mine on the ground with emitter tubing that runs next to the plants, there’s a million ways to do it but it will change your gardening! (Oh, & mine is hooked up to a faucet with a timer, pressure regulator. Back flow preventer, & filter. All those parts are in the drip irrigation aisle next to the parts!) just do it.

Good morning, Stuart. Looking good. Thank for this information. I have been confused by all the drip irrigation systems that the gardeners I follow are using. I may be able to accomplish this one as you have simplified it. My mobility and flexibility issues make it hard to really get down in the dirt. The little sprayers will even water any pots that I have here and there in the garden. Thank you again. I will admit I was a bit shocked at your bare face, but you are adorable either way. Happy planting.

Yeah like I said in the video I think it would be easier to buy a kit because you don't have to track down all the pieces but now that you've done the kit the basic fundamentals are there you could build an entire system like that on your own.

I would like to add that if you are older like myself and you have weak hands, and it's hard to get the quarter inch tubing on to the emitter or the emitter into the half inch blank tubing, wiggle it back and forth and that helps me attach.

Not all diapers are created equal it seems like the name brand diapers have more pterosaur in them like an obscene amount and I would say mix it in with the backfill that way the profile is completely hydrated versus just hydrating at the bottom. But any supplemental water is going to help.

I use terra sorb in my hanging baskets. I also don't transplant my rescued puppies until the evening so they have some cooler temps to adjust. Our yard was basically construction sand with a thin layer of topsoil, we are slowly converting it by adding our personal recipe potting mix and a couple of handfuls of work castings to every hole we dig. Hubs added irrigation to our veggie garden but it was actually defeating us by washing out the nutrients we had added to the beds. We had to do an extreme nitrogen fertilization to save the crops and I converted the watering system to and extremely low tech hillbilly system. I drilled holes in dollars store cups and buried them down next to the plants and fill them with water and let the water seep into the deeper part of the bed and use it for water soluble fertilizer. We get excited when the temp drops below the feels like 100 mark.

I think it's crazy the difference in how well plants do at 93 versus 98 or from 95 to 100 it's crazy to watch if you pay attention plants don't have a problem with 93° weather but man they got a real big problem with 98° weather. Looking to biochar if that's a possibility but it needs to be infused with some nutrients try adding that for the soil in addition to your worm castings and your recipe.

I need this system. I’m very spread out and mostly in containers due to the neighbor dog and now fighting armadillos that will be rehomed (to their heavenly home) if we get the chance. I’m just getting in from watering. It takes 1 1/2 hrs daily give or take. I water in the morning from daylight until I leave to deliver mail at 6:40, get home between 4-6 (darn election season). It was 107 when I finished several days this week. I start again about 5:30 in the evening or later and finish what I didn’t get. We are desperate for rain and lower temps.

@landscaperescuewithstuartm61412 жыл бұрын
That's the thing about that tree saver or any kind of beneficial fungus inoculant you have to get it down into the soil profile it's going to reduce shock it's going to increase drought tolerance so you're going to have to punch some six to eight inch deep holes in the ground and then mix some topsoil or something with an inoculant and fill those cores. It's really designed to be used when you're planting something try putting it on a 3-month slow release fertilizer next year and see what happens.

@strngenchantedgirl2 жыл бұрын
You will lose some water to evaporation with micro sprayers compared to drip. However if you have really dense plantings or it’s too hard to run drip in an established bed, micro sprayers are recommended over drip. Making sure you water in the early morning and having good mulch cover will help with evaporation.
