What the heck is up with my recent run of bad luck on Reverb? Am I being scammed? Is Canada Post throwing my packages? What is happening?

What I do (and I've been doing this since the late 90s) is that I always film my packaging process when selling an expensive item, without editing. And I also open the item itself (inside the electronics), where I place a small note or marker with my signature on it and date. That way, if they steal it or do the old switcharoo - A tip to the police, and they can find the evidence inside.

I bought a couple things on eBay that arrived not working. Seller swears up and down that they worked when sent. That may be, but who knows how they were handled in transit. Get good insurance when shipping. Also, until some time passes, assume there may be a problem and keep the $ in escrow. Bottom line is that if you are selling on ebay or reverb, to the buyer you are a business, just like Amazon.

I always get insurance - always. Not it's time to try to collect.... and have still not heard anything from Canada Post. I have a feeling it's going to be like normal insurance where they do everything they can to not pay it out.

sorry to hear about this. i've sold valuable vintage gear on ebay. i never had a problem but always worried about it. i suspect the ppl you shipped to rather than post considering your packing, just a hunch

Yeah I hate to accuse someone... but... the return made no sense and the item is now broke. Still waiting to hear from reverb and Canada Post. Not sure if I'm going to burn for this or not. Will be a learning experience either way.

For anything I can't afford 100% loss, I go Kijiji or local Facebook. I also insist on showing stuff working before letting it go and it's their problem as soon as it exits my front door - none of this Timmies car park nonsense for anything needing power. The amount of people who don't check stuff amazes me - my son sold a wodge of game cards and the guy didn't even flick through them. Maybe I still haven't lost my Limey "lock it or lose it" mentality! 😂

How does the facebook stuff work? Same as Kijiji? ie: You make local arrangements? I've heard of people selling on Facebook and shipping far distances - having done it I don't understand how the buyer or seller are protected.

@@QuestForGear some people on Facebook sales groups ship but like you say, there's no protection. One benefit with the Facebook groups over Kijiji is you get a bit of an idea of who the time-wasters and kerb-siders are because at least the initial conversations are public.

If that picture you are showing is his setup, the PDF light is on and that would cause it to not work properly. I think the guy might not know how to use the console and that is why he is having trouble.

That pic was a pic from when it was at my place months back. I got it home - wires were off on the rocker switch - it must have got a real bad hit from Canada Post. Gave the guy his money back. I'm out the shipping, my whole day, gas, etc. etc. Probably cost my close to $400 . Sucks for my buyer too... he wanted a nice deal on a Model 24.

maybe for future sales, use ultra violate marker somewhere and record the markings, or write down the serial number... it is a bit of a shit though this, i have to say im not very trusting of reverb

Take pictures of the serial number before to send them off and take video of the product being operational. The common scam is buying item for parts and switching it another seller, leaving them with an operational item for much less they can sell for major profit or personal use.

Non stop scammers on this shit site. I had 312 5 star reviews and they suspended my account after I told them i shouldn't ship a guitar to this guy. He had a po box in Arizona and he ended up in EU. Totally all Reverbs fault

I've had a few issues myself! That sucks, I feel bad for you - I would be really mad if my score went down based on a scam artist. Reverb needs to improve or else they will become Ebay.
