Back in the ‘50s in central Wisconsin, my maternal Grandfather bought an old farm up in Jackson County. My Dad and I spent a week’s vacation cutting tamarack trees, stripping and creosoting them and digging them in along the property line on either side of the road. We put in a steel gate and posted it all along the barbed wire fence. We arrived for deer season to find the fence cut and a bunch of assholes from Chicago had set up camp on the road! They claimed first that they owned the place and then that the owner had given them permission. My Grandfather told them that he was the owner and that they had ten minutes to unass the premises! We took their auto license numbers and reported them to the game warden and state police. I have always hated Chicago and Illinois since then, although the jerks from Milwaukee weren’t much better. Now I live in southern New Hampshire and have to deal with the Massholes!
@chooch19954 ай бұрын
Easy with the hatred there, friend! Just as you’ve discovered, the ‘Massholes’ are just like their urban Chicago counterparts i.e. victims of their upbringing in an urban environment. Be grateful that these metropolises exist because if they didn’t, these people would have to spread out & they’d be your neighbors! Also, Illinois consists of 102 counties. Only a half dozen are connected to that tainted upper right hand corner. Don’t hate Illinoisans. Outside of that area….they’re just like you!

Steel Post will corrode especially at the area around where the post meets the ground. Paint the post before putting it in the ground. Take a pump up sprayer tank and mix a little mineral sprits and boiled linseed oil inside the tank. Shake well and then spray the inside of the pipe from bottom to top and let it set for three days. Once the pipe is in the ground fill the pipe with spray foam and if wants leave a little gap at the top and pour a little concrete to make a top and when dry, paint it. # 1:03 don't make those hinge bolts @ the same level, 1/4 inch I recommend, so you don't have to get them BOTH started [ when putting the gate on ] at the same time.

Dave, question here, the gates are amazing and you should of done this long before now, BUT on the one enterence, you can just drive around the gates, unless you plant on installing some fence there as well??

I’m hoping people will just stop going in there with the gates up. It’s really muddy Si they would probably get stuck

@@Dumpster_Dave when they get stuck you can fine them heavy before pulling them out 😂

Nice job, but I was just curious as to what’s going to stop folk driving around the gates, there’s plenty of room for a 4WD to get around 3 of the four sides ? . Cheers

The post look ok,but anybody with a battery powered sawzall could be through that gate in minutes.I used 6 inch well casing for my post, 5 feet in the ground with concrete.As for the gate I used a rail road rail.Hope you don't live in snow country as the gate is to low to the ground.

The threaded pins ,will they not bend and break in time ?
