For a no-start condition: I just dealt with my no start today and basically followed what Mr.Fix did here. 1) I shut off the fuel. 2) I drained the fuel line and carb at the drain plug. (10mm) (fuel looked fine so I don't know why it wouldn't start. No apparent water.) 3) I cleaned the spark plug ......and checked the gap. The gap was too wide at .032, so I set it to .030 It produced good spark. 4) I added a dose of fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank. 5) I sprayed a shot of starting fluid up the shroud near the intake. The air intake is behind the primer button on my Ariens Compact 24. It started half way through the first pull on the rope. From now on I will follow the end of season care to the letter. It works good when it runs. It will eat wet snow as high as the intake chute. Hitting it with one shot of starting fluid each time might make it start way easier.

I've been using a Craftsman snow blower for about fifteen years. It still runs good but I'm not thrilled with the challenge of turning it. I've decided it's time for a new one and the Ariens Compact is what I'm getting. Thanks for including your wife in this video.

Living the High Life! I try to snow blow before a herd of elephants march across the driveway and turn fluffy white powder into hard pack. I have no idea where they come from and go to, but their tracks lead to my door.

Excellent review! You're absolutely correct about the battery snow blowers, they do underperform. I have the Ego mower, trimmer, blower, and work light and absolutely LOVE them. Last year I purchased their 24" 2-stage snow blower and returned it after using it twice. I have a 40' × 20' driveway and 80' of sidewalk. It took me over an hour to snow blow 18" of wet, heavy snow. My 10amp batteries were flashing red and I had to recharge to finish. I was hopeful it would be great.. but it wasn't. I spent the extra money and bought the Ariens Deluxe Pro 32" EFI. An absolute work horse!!!

Nice review. Unlike some of the commentors here, I'm not going to tell you what you should've done after the fact when you can't un-do it. I'll just say that Ariens is a top shelf manufacturer of residential style snow throwers and so in that regard, you made the best choice given what you knew at the time of purchase.

Only a $100 more could've got you the Deluxe 24. A bigger, better 254 cc engine that you can throttle down, larger 16 inch tires, larger 14 inch augers and impeller, led headlight, dual impeller belts, cast iron gear case. It's heavy tho, weighing in at 250 lbs I was going to purchase this same snowblower last November, but I found out that the Deluxe 24 was only a bill more, so that's the one I purchased.

Should never run a gas engine at part throttle. Even in the cold it is working hard and it needs the cooling fan to run at max speed.
@jamesorsby755311 ай бұрын
@@scrambler69-xk3kv I didn't mean to throttle the engine down while you're actually using the snow blower. The Ariens Compact doesn't give you the option to throttle the engine down when its not working...it always going full throttle. The Ariens Deluxe models has a throttle control to idle the engine if needed.

My thoughts exactly. I got myself a Deluxe 24 for this season, and have only used it twice on some wet snow. It works great. But I picked the Deluxe 24 for all the reason you mentioned vs its competition and as a replacement for my old under powered 179cc MTD brand 24" snowblower. The 250 pound weight of the Deluxe isn't much of an issue with the auto turn.

@@bwillan I haven't used mine at all this winter, because it just refuses to snow in Chicago anymore. I've haven't used my snowblower in the last 2 winters, and if I don't use it this winter, it'll be 3 winters. I might just have to buy a single stage Toro, and sell my Ariens, because it's overkill at this point. BTW... We've already had over 60 degree days this month and a 70 degree day is a few days away.

I’ve had a compact 24 for about 5 years. Have moved a lot if snow with it and works great. As you said the slowest speed should be a little slower for some situations.

Nice little snowblower. I love the sound of a small engine. Im in quebec and we get lots of wet snow and a electric 2 stage bogs down on wet snow. Like you im sticking with a gas one. I have a older 2009 ariens 1028 dle pro and its still going strong 15 years later.

Friendly FYI, inanimate objects are not affected by a windchill factor. It's just the ambient temperature. And since your video was posted a year ago, you probably know this by now (or perhaps you just didn't show it in the video) but before cold starting you need to need to press the primer button a couple times. Don't overdo it, just 2-3 times.

Is your driveway gravel, asphalt, or concrete? What made you choose this brand and not a Toro?
@pineandpeak Жыл бұрын
It's gravel ish... I used roadbase so it compacts together pretty well and is very hard once you drive on it, or in my case use a skidsteere to pack it down. Regarding the brand choice, unfortunately toro was not sold near me so I couldn't really compare. I've heard they make a good machine as well though their engines are made overseas. Also at the time I got a pretty good discount ~$200 on the Ariens so I went with that.

I literally bought this model from lowes today and had to go back and return it. I got it gassed up, checked oil and got her fired up then i started hearing the drum and auger spinning without even pressing down the initiating handle! Then i started seeing white smoke coming out of the bottom smelling like the belts burning up. When i brought it back, lowes was like "Its normal for it to smoke a little" and im like ok? is it normal for the auger to spin without even pressing the handle? NO! So disappointed

@@kurtm.7494 it was a Black Friday deal so everything was cheap. I’ve had good luck with Lowe’s in the past but just not this time. You’re right next time it’s a hardware store
@bobbymiller295110 ай бұрын
I see that happening quite often., The belt and pulley are not adjusted correctly., That's why the auger was spinning. Before it was engaged., The belt was so tight. It was smoking., It's a very easy fix., Anyways, glad you got another one.

@@JC-kv7fz Also consider a dedicated dealer if you're fortunate enough to have one in your area. I just purchased an Ariens from a dealer in suburban Chicago. Good selection and the machine was trailered to my garage door, totally set up, gassed, oiled and tested. He spent 20 minutes with me and my wife in our driveway demonstrating the unit and answering questions with the machine actually running part of the time, a far different experience than just listening to someone talk about it in a store (of course, he also answered questions when I was at his place). At the dealership is a parts counter and a service area with experienced people who know exactly what they are doing on a brand they work on all the time. Priceless. Out the door, with every last penny counted, the purchase was 50 bucks more than what I would have spent with a big-box store, with no set-up and no delivery. No brainer.

@@anthonyc1883 I agree 100 percent with you. Next time I buy a new one it will be 100 percent from a certified dealer. Also I’m glad I returned it because our winter in Massachusetts wasn’t bad last year and I was able to bring my 05 craftsman snowblower for a service at the cost of 100 dollars. Runs like new now. However in the future a new snowblower will be from a certified dealer and not a Lowe’s or Home Depot.
