I'm sad to see how dodge has changed. We had a used 99 Durango until about 2017, and we abused that thing to death. Wasn't easy to own when gas was $4, but the only reason we got rid of it was because we got t-boned, and insurance decided to total it

Confession time: I was part of the production company that filmed those trucks falling from the 10 feet in the air. Those trucks didn't start the first time we filmed that because the fuel pump in the gas tank would immediately dislodge. I'm the guy that figured out the problem and rigged up an external electric fuel pump so they would start and drive away after we drop them. Then: we reshot the commercial. Surprisingly the suspension and everything else was fine, even though: each of those trucks was dropped a minimum additional 2 or 3 times for testing purposes before the second and final shoot. IE: some of those trucks were dropped 5 times with no problem other than the stock fuel pump In the gas tank dislodging!

We've had an 03 Ram 3500 4 door long bed with the overload springs straight out of the factory with the exhaust brake. Had 8k lbs in the bed, didn't come close to bump stops, towed veeerrry heavy loads, and to top it off it was one of the years with absolutely no EPA garbage! Love it to death and with some modifications it got up to 1200lbft of torque and 26mpg unloaded highway. 18 loaded. Now it has a 6.7 swapped in and is even more amazing. Love the truck and would recommend it to anyone. It also has the 6 speed NV5600 which I wish Scotty had talked about because it is bulletproof out of the factory.

Thank you for the review. I have a 2018 Ram 1500 5.7 hemi. I love it. It has the power I need for hauling. Plus it's just right for running my 4 wheeler up on to go riding. My 2010 Tundra had more power but, 14 - 16mpg verses 18.5 - 22 mpg makes a lot of difference going back and forth 40 Miles a day to work. I have not had any problems or complaints. I love this truck. Bought new in 1994 a second generation Dodge ram 1500 2wd. The 5.2 liter (318 c.i.) has always been my favorite engine. I now have 308,000 miles on it. Other than a crank sensor going bad at around 110,000 miles and normal tune up parts and oil changes, the engine and transmission are untouched Still runs great. Just put on the second water pump and replaced the original thermostat. Only replaced the starter motor once and the alternator once. I live in Michigan so yes it has some rust. I've owned it 27 years and still love it. I keep up pretty good on the maintenance. I've personally done close to 100 oil changes on it. It still runs great.

I rented one for a long road trip a couple of years back. Actually, it was all Enterprise had available at the moment. It was a 2019 1500 if memory serves. What surprised me most was the great gas mileage it got over the course of my 3000 mile trip. I've often wondered, however, how well they hold up over the long haul. I tend to keep trucks for a very long time. I put lots of miles on them. My current truck has over 300k on it. I'd consider a Ram 1500 for my next truck, so long as it isn't a maintenance money pit.

Sadly after owning multiple ram's, the long term reliability is was pushed me away. Most of the time it was just electrical issues, or ABS, but I did have trouble with late 90's automatics with the half ton. Not saying other don't have issues, I just don't want to give them my money at this point after having so many issues on rams and some of the cars covering about 15 years between 1990 - 2005.

I've had both Hemi engines. My 2008 Dodge 1500 had the 5.7 (I enjoyed that little hot rod) Next I bought a 2015 Ram 2500 crew cab 4x4. That was very powerful. However pulling grades with travel trailer in tow was uncomfortable at 3800 RPM and 6.2 mpg. Loved that truck but stepped up to a 2016 Ram 2500 Crew cab with a Cummins. What a difference. I went and upgraded up to a 35' fifth wheel. I can pull that same grade up the Salt River Canyon at 1800 RPM and get just short of 15 mpg. Love my Cummins 2500!

@@jasperjordan6972 Yes. Mine was a short bed 1/2 ton and it was rough. I think the long beds were smoother. The only thing that I didn’t like about this truck was that it had two fuel tanks and the fillers for these tanks were on opposite sides. I put a lot of highway miles on it and it was a pain keeping both of these tanks full. I loved it though. It would really go well in deep snow and the short wheelbase made it good for off-roading.

Own a 2019 Ram 1500 Limited. Traded in a Ford F150 Platinum that turned out to be a POS that I could not wait to get rid of. I have owned three Ram 1500 trucks over the years and they have all been the best trucks in my opinion. Chevy and Ford are plagued with recalls which take time to resolve. My Ram just keeps on going and going. And no truck on the market has the luxury touches more than the Ram Limited. Only one complaint, hate the rotating shift knob, so if any Ram engineers are reading these comments, bring back the console shifters. Other than that they are great trucks.

Had a New 2002 2500 24 valve. Loved the truck, but it had a ton of problems, the adaptor between the Transfer case and Transmission cracked and leaked for no reason at less than 30,000 miles. The lift pump went out at 50k, and then the Injector pump went out a year later. Bosh quit making pumps so rebuilt ones were all that was available but still ran $1,000. Power Steering/Brake Booster went out twice, leaving me with no brakes, and you couldn't turn it unless it was moving. The PS Pump, being matted with the Vacuum Pump, required resealing sealing vacuum pump each time. This was all in the first 100K! It was a beautiful truck, great on the highway, but the springs were so stiff you really couldn't drive it far on dirt roads. It had springs like a Box Car on it! It would rattle your teeth right out of your head! I loved that Truck!

That's like saying Chevrolet is not a GM. The truck started out as a Dodge Ram. The reason they are disassociating the name Ram from Dodge is for marketing reasons only. Same thing with Jeep. They are Jeeps in name only. They're still a Chrysler/Dodge product which is why they're garbage.

Greetings from Australia, as an fyi, this same truck in the 1500 is retailing in Australia for $140 thousand AUD or nearly $100 thousand USD. It comes off the factory floor is shipped to Australia where it is completely pulled apart and rebuilt into right hand drive. All manufacturers of full size US picks do this and refuse to build and supply direct to Australia, despite the demand being high. In Australia just about every household has a mid size pickup and want the full size. We are robbed blind.

Nice advert for Stellantis Scotty. Now a couple of points for you. 1. Although sales increased they could still not outsell Ford. 2. They (Chrysler and GM) went broke during the GFC and were bailed out by the long suffering US taxpayers, then sold off. 3. Although they may be adequate, they are outperformed by their rivals, especially Ford with their Ecoboost engines and Power stroke. 4. They've had terrible reliability and build quality for years. Lastly; out of all the big three, they are now the least "American" brand.
