But not all the hostelers are demonic btw some r helpful. In Jadavpur university ragging, any type of narcotics like Ganga,cigarette, alcohol is very common in campus. It's an open campus to all, no restrictions on public, even in hostel. I was ragged during my engineering. I was slapped from behind by the seniors in our classroom while everyone was watching and I was studying during break. They hit me because they wanted to rag me and I wasn't giving in. I was so enraged that I threw the bench. I swear I would have killed someone in that group, but I stopped myself because it was not worth it. They never messed with me after that. I never ragged my juniors as I know how it feels. I wish I'd have called the cops sometimes. But things were different back then, I was from a poor family. Atleast, people will change now. This was 12 years ago. Hyderabad, Telangana.

One of my college teacher was a graduate of IIT kharagpur and he was preparing for UPSC. He used to brag how he was ragging his juniors and how ragging is beneficial for students. He used to say ragging helps students to get cultured and follow the college rule. Some of my classmates also belived him and promised to not oppose ragging in college. Sir I am from WB and what happened in Jadavpur University is really shameful. As per infrastructure and quality of education JU is very good. But it's also true that JU campus is hub of unethical activities like ragging, sexual assault, alcohol and tobacco consumption etc. Maoist and urban naxalites have made JU campus into a hub of anti national activities like JNU. They are responsible for the death of Swapnadeep. Maoist student union don't want CC TV at JU campus because it will expose their agenda and all unethical work. Current state govt is also soft towards them and don't take any strict action unfortunately. These universities are running by tax payer's money to give students who work for betterment of Nation not for anti national maoist activities. This is not suicide, they literally pushed him to his limits. It's complete murder. Bully can cause mental pressure and low self-esteem in future. It will create a trauma. I know the pain of ragging although I was not ragged in college but I faced intense bullying in school life due to my introvert nature. My college was good but I was mentally damaged. I thought every classmates in college will also bully me just like my school life so I was avoiding them. Then I found that it's due to my low self-esteem and social anxiety. I got therapy for almost 6 months. Now I am mentally healthy.

In IIT Madras there is nothing like ragging. This is not only fault of seniors. There is big fault of management side. Last few month in summers I was working as JRF in IIT KGP and one boy was intern there from jadavpur university. When I was in IIT Kgp I didn't feel safe there. It has 2200acre campus with no cctv cameras in hostels or Labs and one day I was going for Lunch a aunty stop me and asked about Faizan Ahmed but I was new to campus. She told me he used to look like you healthy and tall do you know him. I replied which department and hostel he is in. She replied They killed my son😢by ragging.I was really shocked. One day news came a intern boy found dead because of heart problem he had and many more cases were there. One of boy used to sit in our Lab he was bit frustrated because of his guide pressure or I don't know what, he thought we made a group and we discussed and laugh on him.He came to fight with us but we didn't had any cctv proof to show what he did. I don't know why they don't install cameras in campus and make it more safe for students. Cameras can stop Ragging, restrict cigrates ganja alcohol in a room rather than in hostel hall and many things. It was really difficult for me to live 4months there I had alot of friends of IIT and even from out of campus but I really didn't felt safe in IIT Kgp. Now I am felling a bit good I got into IIT Delhi. They didn't allow anyone to come inside with out idcards and have a cctv in new hostels where I live. The boy who came on intern with us was from jadavpur and we discussed on ragging but I don't know why he was in favour of it😢 really felt bad that someone lost there child just because of some loosers who think they are superior just because they are your senior and don't treats juniors like humans😢. Hope that all campus may get a cctv cameras. So students can feel safe❤

My maternal uncle during 1997-98 was an undergraduate in electrical engineering in Jadavpur University. He was made naked and ragged within a week he went as a fresher. Hostels are all controlled not by uni authorities but by political unions and senior youth leader dadas. Afterwards he stayed in a mess. This is very common.

When I was in Diploma,my senior tried to rag me. I refused and after college I and my 6-7 friend cought that senior outside the campus and started to beat him with my belt. He was begging that day infront of me. Even he didn't complaint to the Principal 😂😂. We were the heroes of our college and we totally abolished ragging in our college. Even after his batch passed out,that senior calls me bhaiyya. That's Bihar brother. Apne seher me bakchodi nai,nai to g**nd me danda daal diya jaata hai

Every college in Kolkata and near by district has a TMC union. And passout students are close to TMC. I am a college student in Bengal. Though mine is polytechnic and seniors are not bad. But in some general College it's horrible.

This is the case Higher institutions but one place which is constantly being ignored are JNVs . These are govt. boarding schools and two big problems with these are that the Anti Ragging Laws mostly apply to Higher Institutions and in these institutions total 24 students , all senior-junior stay in the same room. So, there's no legal Affidavit to sign like in higher institution and the juniors being in very close proximity it makes very easy for the seniors to do ragging. Once I got a seat in a JNV with the top rank but I gave up my seat after hearing some horrifying cases of ragging in that institution.

Here in Assam recently one boy got killed in JNV due to Ragging. JNVs are not safe at all , and I would say parents should never send their kids to boarding school if they really love thier children

Iss mamle me Delhi University bhot sahi hai. Being a graduate from Delhi university, north campus i can tell you that the rules are very strict against ragging, police is all time available outside or near the college. Colleges are itself very strict against ragging.

Similar case occured at my college Dr.B.C.ROY ENGINNERING COLLEGE , DURGAPUR. A third year student was found hanged in the top floor and the door was locked from outside . The death body was recovered at 25/08/2023. No media has covered it.

Being an alumnus of Jadavpur University,I can say that by reference of an RTI report from 2018-23: IITs- 39 deaths NITs- 25 deaths Central Universities- 23 deaths Other: 9 deaths On June,2023, another student of IIT Varanasi committed suicide due to unknown reasons at his hostel room. Surprisingly no Godi Media or Politician tried to eradicate ragging culture, because IITs,NITs or BHU cannot suit the preparation of upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha election. Had the Godi Media/politicians acted earlier, the Jadavpur University incident could be prevented.
