If you arrive in the middle of the night at the bus station in Cuenca and you have no change for a taxi, you can go to the JEP ATM at the bus station add extract a sum that ends in a $5. That way you will get a $5 bill. In the daytime, you can easily go into any Bank and exchange a $20 bill for 20 $1 coins.

$35 for 2 beers and salmon, there are many places in Cuenca where you could feed 4 people for that. If you want a western restaurant you will pay western prices, but you could have the same food in Florida, New York or anywhere , try the mom and pop places and get the $2.50-$4.00 lunch or $5.00-$7.00 dinner that you won't find in the states.

18 min walk and you wanted to take a cab? Way to reinforce the lazy american stereotype.
@CultureShockAddict Жыл бұрын
20 minute walk, in the middle of the night, in a city and country that I've never explored before, with a 58lb backpack, streets completely dead and empty, and I've had a gun pulled on me in an identical type of scenario while traveling also in South America less than a year ago, so if me wanting to be cautious and explore all of my options before making that journey makes me the "typical" lazy American, I'll take that stereotype for the team. Additionally, if you watch just a millisecond of any of my videos, you'll notice I literally walk everywhere in every single country, heat, cold, snow, doesn't matter.
