@Alpha Investments .......I've been watching your videos since the "Store Life" content hit.....I PLAY ABSOLUTELY NO CARDBOARD GAMES....But....This is why I enjoy your videos. I was in the finance game for 30years and you have a great way of explaining how something in your everday life can translate to an educational content experience....Now I know you dont claim and clearly tell everyone that you are not a "financial advisor" but putting it into real life terms, the way you do, is definitely a learning experience for many.

100 years ago even the richest billionaire had to wait minutes in order to buy and sell stock, and on average a lot longer. Today the richest people don't even order, they own the markets and have AI automatically executing and front running trades in milliseconds. Whenever you buy a security, the information goes to someone who sees that trade and has a program execute a trade in response (counter or otherwise) in less than a second. It's called Payment for Order Flow and you can't escape it. "ThInGs HaVe AlWaYs BeEn LiKe ThIs" is a disingenuous brainlet take.

Good video Rudy, but I think the one spot you may be mistaken is that theoretically you can have an “infinite” growth rate in the financial markets - that is chiefly due to inflation. The companies may be stagnant but as long as the money supply (ie inflation) is increase - the price of the goods and services these companies sell will continue to raise. So prices will increase because of this. So technically the market will act as an inflation hedge and grow in value. Although the companies may be stagnant when you adjust for inflation.

I think a potential ice breaking point of a “tech reset/readjustment” that we may see in the future will be when some form of ai ACTUALLY really starts to make a big impact to more of life in ways we aren’t accounting for at this time because we aren’t there yet. Doesn’t matter where in the world it sparks from but once it’s a thing it’s gonna make a meaningful impact I think.

I agree to most of what rudy rants here, what just keeps me up sitting on cardboard investments is when a major war brokes out, all this is literally zero, only traditional commodities like food, water gas steel or maybe gold will have intrinsic value by then. But when the current status quo of wars only waging on far away lands, 1st world countries enjoying the technological advancements (AI) and wealth inequality keeps going up, prices and demand of cardboard will surely go up.

Halfway through and I feel like I should comment: It is important to consider your own financial position and goals with Rudy's musings. He has obviously been quite successful in life, so he should be taken seriously. Some level of exposure to broad index funds is likely to be a net benefit to almost everyone. The level of exposure compared to other investments is where the rubber meats the road, and that is what I think Senior Rudy is contemplating here. Once you have a solid financial foundation, where can you invest to increase your upside while minimizing the likelihood of overall downside risk?

The book blue ocean comes to mind. Don't compete with the coldhearted big dogs. Instead, create your own dang thing and become the dominant force. Yeah you could have 95% allocation in the S&P. But wallstreet is already established there, and ready to screw you over at the drop of a hat. You're also competing with quants, dark pools, and many other silly things. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but all I'm saying is the blue ocean book comes to mind. And with that said, it would seem like you have the right idea, and have been doing a great job in your investing journey. And most of the S&P is made up of just a handful of tech stocks anyway, but that much is obvious and should almost go without saying.

The high concentration of one sector/branch can be an issue, yes. Because it does the opposite of diversification. Risk is higher if something "tech-related" happens that all or many f these tech companies are hit and the S&P takes a hit, compared to when the S&P would be more broadly diversified with the weights of non-tech companies. But that's the US economy these days.
