Hitmontop has been doing his awkward dance for as many generations as he was depicted on his head. They didn't even give him a unique animation for RAPID SPIN. Blastoise gets hydropump, justice for hitmontop.

The dance he performs is called the xinga, it's from capoeira and is the essential "stance" of it. I really like the reference, although you can argue it would have fit better on hitmonlee as he's more kick based. Still sick tho

Hitmonlee is based on Tae Kwon Do, so putting him in Xinga stance would be beyond weird. Capoeira is probably the most 'spinny' martial art (the limitations put on it by the Brazillian colonizers forced it to be very inefficiënt and honestly ineffective.) so it makes sense to slap it on hitmontop, but a sort of constant inverted ballet pirrhouette would've fit it much better.

They never broke free. Capoeira is so poor a fighting style the average bar brawler is more dangerous. Capoeira is a dance that can sort of double as a fighting style. Not a good one, though. You ever see capoeira do good at mixed martial arts tournaments? Yeah, me neither.

Hitmontop's idle animation was it on its head in Pokemon Colosseum which looked both silly and awesome at the same time, but for some reason they decided to flip it over later on. One of those weird design choices like taking away Typhosion's fire for a while.

The whole reason to why he doesn't spin anymore was to emphasize the capoeira part of his name "Kapoerer", in Japan, with a new animation where he does the ginga dance, step one of the capoeira martial art. I only wish its Triple Kick signature move was animated with him standing upside down, I think it's more effective that way. But on the other hand it would be probably too fast.

Godly Gift Technitop With Kyurem Bs attack stat is soo good. U can brute force most walls (Like Clodsire and Alomomola with Triple axel and Close Combat respectively) and you can threaten offensive mons with fakeout+mach punch. Ghost types really cant take a triple axel and gholdengo is the best answer.
