In Tekken 5, tracking was nearly nonexistent, which is why sidestepping moves were a lot easier. In Tekken 6, they added homing moves to counter people who keep sidestepping, but I think they've overdone it by adding tracking properties to half of every character's move set, especially with the moves that have a straight motion.

Everyone had a conplete throw game in Tekken until Tekken 7. One reason Kazuya was Top 3 in TTT2 is because of his oki from throws.

Their homing moves in Tekken 5 but they were to slow and didn’t have good range like Tekken 7 which I like Tekken 5 and Tekken 6 because you have to be smart about every move you do even homing move can’t just pull something out of your ass like Tekken 7 have to play the game. And Tekken 8 feel like that Tekken 6 and Tekken 5 in a lots of ways.
