⛔ NO PENCILS challenge (reroot & doll faceup)

This #NoPencilsChallenge originally was created by a fellow doll customizer @halicrafts. He invited some of us other artists to join and customize a doll without using our trusty watercolor pencils. I was afraid before I started repainting this Monster High doll, but in the end, she turned out very well. I had to use more spray sealant, also my workflow was slower, but it was a fun challenge and inspired me to use brushes more often in the future. If you want, join this challenge as well. She looks beautiful! You nailed it! How many sealant layers you usually do? Will it crack if it’s a lot of them? (Because head is soft and can be squeezed) Also why did you choose watercolor instead of gouache? Because if thickness?

I'm happy you like her:) MSC is the best and can handle small squises. I usually spray 6-9 layers. 2-3 at the beginning, 1-2 after the first paint payer, 1-2 after the second paint layer and 2-3 in the end. This time I sprayed 9-15 layers😳😵🙈 I picked watercolor paint because I started the first line with it, then I just mixed other watercolor colors and I didn't need other paint🤗 I used white gouache because I don't have white watercolor paint. But I think I prefer the faceup this way. If I would use gouache or acrylics, then the lines would be thicker. If you see the finished shots, the lines are flat, don't has a rough surface which I really like.

I prefer to paint dolls only with a brush. I draw only tattoos with pencils. Very cute doll.

Thank you!:) In this video I used watercolors. For repainting dolls you always have to use a spray sealant to make a base for the paint, also to fix your work and prevent it from future damage. This bugged me a bit, but a little tip for your coffee machine might be to brew the coffee into a measuring cup with a pour spout if you're going to transfer it to another cup. That way you don't waist a bit of it by pouring it on the counter. The doll turned out really cute BTW.

I love her! The natural makeup look is amazing. I was wondering though what pastels you used? They aren't listed, and I've been trying to find better ones than I currently have. These seemed to work quite well! Also, I will never get over that adorable hair. Where did you find it?

Oh, I forgot to list! I'm using PanPastels. These are very pigmented and very good quality...as the price reflects :S I bought the hair from an online shop which is closed already :(
