I heard in another video that the only reason the insurance companies cancelled their fire policies was due to California failing to enact fire safety shurb practicies. The fires insurance was cancelled because California was NOT mitigating their risks. This is a horrible consequence of the actions, (or failure of actions,) of those in charge. No doubt the insurance companies sent letter after letter and notice after notice to the state. :( all these folks that were literally thrown into the fire's path because of their leadership.

Thank you for reporting this. There is no excuse for not having evacuation plans. Those of us who remember the Oakland Hills Fire of 1991 remember 25 people being trapped in a canyon and killed in the fire because there was no evacuation plan. Government officials in CA allow building in fire ecosystems and do no vegetation management or preparation for evacuation. It is not like this fire was not predictable.

There needs to be federal policy that the west coast either build water collection, retain water, maintain forests and maintain vegetation around powerlines, etc. or federal funding is not coming. This is ridiculous that the rest of the nation is on the hook to pay year in and year out, billions of dollars for the incompetent leadership the west coast wants to continue voting into office. The annual disaster funding that goes to these west coast states could be dramatically reduced with competency at the leadership level. With the amount of disaster relief they receive each and every year, they could have built reservoirs everywhere, cut in fire brakes, cleaned and maintained their forests, etc. This is neglect at a criminal level so that these politicians can steal that federal funding to line their own pockets with and that needs to be seriously investigated. Trillions have gone out there and nothing has changed. It's gotten worse actually. We could have completely rebuilt this nation several times over with the funds they have received over the past few decades all due to leftist ideologies and thievery.
