No Player is Weak in Pro Snooker | Ronnie O'Sullivan vs Zhang Anda | 2022 European M ‒ final frames

When low-ranked professional snooker players approach their best, they can beat any top player, even in long matches and finals. They all possess refined technique and the necessary skills, and once they handle the mental side consistently, they begin to climb the ranks.
The Blue Ball Challenge is a contest where the cue ball is placed over a corner pocket, and you have to pot the blue to the diagonally opposite corner pocket.
Fifteen pro players partook, five attempts each. Some results:
- Kyren 0 pots;
- Neil, Shaun and Mark Williams 1 pot each;
- Zhao, Yan and David Grace 2 pots;
- Zhou and Xu Si 3 blues each;
- Zhang Anda 4 blues out of 5, the Champion!!
Nobody potted all five blues, and no, Ronnie did not participate :)

I was never even aware of Snooker until about 3 years ago. These guys are amazing. I know we should not compare BUT compared to regular pool these guys are several notches above. Often in regular pool the whole table gets ran before the other guy even gets to shoot. Plus...12 foot table AND smaller pockets? I really love this game

Don't forget how unforgiving those pockets are if the object ball fails to come through cleanly, andr hits a side in a tiny wrong area. When ROS slams a black ball into the pocket to complete a clearance he is showing his full confidence in his ability to drain the pocket cleanly.

I find it fascinating to consider just what it is that separates the top players from the journeymen of the game. Is it technical skills or tactical strategy? A successful player has a balanced measure of both attributes if he is to compete at all levels. The over riding factor seems to be the level of confidence the player approaches the game with which is true of most competitive sports in my opinion.

Decision making. The top guys all have a similar technical ability. Some, like Hendry and O'Sullivan, do have that extra bit of understanding of angles and ball mechanics, but no matter how good your technical ability is, play the wrong shot, and you will be on the wrong foot. Snooker is first and foremost about decision making.
