This is it! The Drag racing that got me in as a kid of the '60's. The spectacle of each car looking like it just rolled out from the Hot Rod show... gear changes , real gear changes! slippin' clutches and all, and the precarious first second or two getting away from the tree! Thanks guys... ' love it all. Keep it going!!

@jaydee6595 жыл бұрын
That’s why you see old vids and photos with FEDs smoking the tires the whole way, slick technology didn’t get good until ‘68 or so. A lot of these cars run at the Meltdown Drag event(now called Glory Days), they can run better slicks at that event, Pie Eating Contest is all about the look of ‘66 drag racing.

@@RadRidesByCru I'm talking more street racing but Byron is my home track and you pick alot og junk up on tires coming back to pits and in pits, sometimes if busy your pitting in the grass. @RadRidesByCru5 жыл бұрын
At the track there's a multitude of reasons for a burnout, but, wouldn't it be nice if there was a tire that negated all those reasons? As far as burnouts on the street and not at the track, they are 100% for show. You're not going to have enough junk in the tire to make a difference in a street race, any heat you put into the tire is completely absorbed by the cold pavement which is thoroughly covered in oils that you drive right into as soon as you launch. All on a tire that is completely ill-suited to the surface you're running on. It is, literally... a smoke show.
@bigphil8155 жыл бұрын
@@RadRidesByCru The smoke show, the smell of rubber and sound are the best parts. But yes, a tire that you didn't have to burn out in, would be nice for keeping cost down. My street slicks pick up all kinds of junk. I'm not talking a 40 foot 8k rpm smokey burn out. I'm talking a little power brake, or 1st gear little burn out. You got to at least get the water off from the box. But yes tires suck, even when I raced shifter karts or dirt oval karts with my nephew's. Tires were alot and you had to have a lot of them for different stagger and different hardness/Softness, grooved/ not grooved. I always saran wrapped mine after little rubbing with acetone..
